news.google.com is my primary source

I look to cnn.com to get an impression of what most people are following.

I don't get news from the TV unless you count the Daily Show/Colbert Report, which I watch maybe 1/3 of the time, but sometimes go weeks without seeing.

only the best Liberal and Socialist sites

Online I go to:

ESPN
CNN
BBC
THE GUARDIAN
THE DETROIT FREE PRESS
THE WINDSOR STAR
GOOGLE NEWS
FOX NEWS
Sometimes WSJ and NYT non pay articles

on Twitter I follow a number of commentators/sites I trust (Krugman, Roubini, Greenwald, Taibbi, Joseph Stiglitz, ACLU of Illinois, Southern Poverty Law Center, FireDogLake, SmirkingChimp) and some I don't (FoxNews, Sarah Palin), just for fun. I get most of my sports news from here, but during the year, I'll also read a couple sports blogs. though I think spending as much time reading & commenting on sports as some people do is completely idiotic.

it is eye-opening comparing the issues & stories that Fox covers in their twitter feed, compared to what non-mainstream sources cover. You start to understand how the tsmiths of the world are created... and then wound up and left to blather their half-truths, like some sort of racist, reactionary wind-up dolls.

Crickets man...

You're beating me to the punch a lot these days!!!

You know how you exist in that parallel universe one day ahead? I'm actually your alter ego in the one that's a day behind. I think with you (me?) trying to watch sports in real time with the rest of us it's slowed you up a bit.

Al Jazzera. It's news in 9/5 time.

It showed some shit on Syria that you won't see anywhere else. Demonstrates that the civil war is between two different tribes of thugs where one has the nicer uniforms.

it also shows shit in Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, Somalia, etc. that you won't see anywhere else (or at least on Fox, MSNBC, CNN, ABC, NBC, or CBS), which is why it is BARELY allowed in the U.S.

I think there are maybe a half-dozen small cable companies with limited market reach that carry it.

The Onion

It's about on par with Fox News and MSNBC
