Will Trey Zeigler transfer

I'm really not worried about the front court at all. I am terrified if Burke leaves, and we don't find anyone to run the show... Who's going to be the PG, Akunne????

Of course we're not worried about the frontcourt. What does that have to do with anything?

Just a random thought. Scared if they don't solve the PG situation with a true PG. I remember when they tried a natural SG at the PG spot (Dion Harris). That was awful.

Oh, well hell yeah, it can't get any scarier. I agree the Harris thing was awful, but I'd be thrilled if there was that good of an option on this team. Without Burke it's pg by committee with I'd guess Stauskus being the lead? I have no doubt Beilein would bring in a 2012 pg though, hopefully this Italian kid. It would be ugly though.

To be honest, I would rather see a true PG that is very low on the skill level, compared to a good SG like Stauskas. It's just so hard to ask a natural scorer to suddenly change the whole dynamic of his style. If worst comes to worst, maybe they can find gold with another leader like a CJ Lee or David Merritt, someone who isin't asked to score, but lead a team and find others.

I agree, but unfortunately the true PG that's low on skill level would also be a freshman. Not a good combination.

Unless they could find someone that graduated early ala Brandon Wood/Russell Wilson??

Well, we will know Burke's status in a week or so. It's good that it won't take too long. I really hope that the NBA Board comes back to him and says, "stay in school kid." I checked out a few 2012 mock drafts for the NBA. I don't see him cracking the 1st round. But, who knows.

most talented freshmen will get an evaluation. it comes with the territory, but still, i hope beilein has a plan, just in case.

Any word on the PG that JB went to go see yesterday?

Sounds like it went well, he wants to visit and would probably be offered at that point. This quote dampens the PG possibilities a little bit, but I think he'd be a good addition no matter what.

"Della Valle also said he heard about the possibility of Trey Burke leaving for the NBA. At 6-foot-5, 180 pounds, Della Valle is more of a natural two guard, but he has played a little bit of point in his one year at Findlay Prep.

“Not a lot, but sometimes,” he said. “I need to work on that , but I would [be comfortable playing point in college]."

From Sam Webb yesterday afternoon...

First, let’s start by answering the biggest question out there right now... will Michigan pursue Trey Zeigler? In my opinion, the answer to that question is no. There has been no contact to date, and I think when you look at Michigan’s roster composition in the coming years, you can see why there likely won’t be. Why even chance impacting Zak Irvin, especially when Trey's cousin, Bo offers more versatility (he’s an athletic 6-7/6-8 with the ability to play the 4-spot) and has four years of eligibility? So while I’ll never say never until a kid is signed on the dotted line someplace… Michigan has NOT contacted Trey Zeigler, I do NOT think they will.

Now to 2012 recruiting... Two names figure prominently into the equation for the Maize & Blue. One you already know... Findlay prep combo guard Amedeo Della Valle. He put Michigan in his final five and Beilein hit the road yesterday to make his way out to see the talented youngster for the first time.

The other name is one new to most Michigan fans, but not to a number a number of future Wolverines - Spike Albrecht. The 6-1, 180 lb. Northfield (Mass) Mount Hermon Prep School PG is cerebral floor general that can shoot in well, has a high basketball IQ, and decent handle. Some scouts I've talked to compare him to Northwestern's Dave Sobolewski. Albrecht’s recruitment isn't as star-studded as Della Valle's, but the Crown Point, Indiana native could come in and learn the system quickly and already has a rapport with Trey Robinson and Mitch McGary since he played AAU ball with them. We'll have more information on Albrecht in the coming hours. In the meantime here is a video link: 2012 Highlights.

In 2013, as we've been stating, expect the Bo Zeigler recruitment to pick up steam. He has visited campus a few times and the Wolverines made it out to a few of his games this season. His length, versatility, and interest make him a prime target.

And how about this name as a blast from the past... Flint Beecher's Monte Morris. The savvy point guard is winning personified. He isn't the most athletic, not the quickest, not the strongest, and not the best jump shooter... but he seemingly always finds a way to get the job done. He again has his team back in the Breslin competing for a State title. He exudes the demeanor and leadership ability that demands a look if you have the space... and with the likelihood that Trey Burke will only be around one more year... this recruitment would make sense. I expect the Wolverines to inquire about this youngster if they haven't already.

And a word on scholarship #’s… in the of the board projections people are counting Blake McClimans in the 2013/2014 season. Take a look at the roster on MGoBlue.com. Notice that he is listed currently as a junior (compared to Jordan Morgan who is listed as a redshirt sophomore). Do not take that as an oversight or typo.

Also, while I expect Trey Burke to come back for the 2012/2013 campaign… it’s a stretch to think he’ll be back beyond that.

Then there is the uncertainty with Austin Hatch. Will he ever be able to play competitively again (or will he receive a medical)? If he is capableof playing competitively, will he be able to do so in time for the 2012/2013 (or will he need to reclassify to the next class?)

At this point it’s reasonable to assume that if they land one of the aforementioned guard targets in 2012, they should still have at least one more scholarship to work with in 2013.

Stay tuned for more on the hoops front in the coming hours...

so he is saying that McLemons will be back?

Sounds like if they can get Amadeo on campus, he could get an offer and then commit

I think he's implying that McL won't get a 5th year, as Morgan will.

Yeah, sounds pretty positive with Amadeo. I'm guessing Spike is a backup plan to Amadeo, unless Burke goes, then they could take both.
