Wings lose players to waivers /Roster set by 5pm

I can't get my head around what's going on with this organization. Tossing young players off the cliff and signing retreads and over-the-hillers to big deals. What am I missing?

Rosters have to be set by 5pm Today . Kromwall's been placed on short-term IR.

Pulk isn't a kid anymore. He's 24 and really has done nothing with the club or at the minor league level. At some point you have to move on. AA's going to be getting his shot, and Pulk wouldn't have taken any time from Vanik. No issue with this.

He lead the ahl in goal with 34 in 46 games in 2014-15. That was after scoring 31 in his rookie season of 2013-14. Not sure last season . FRK was decent to . I Just hate losing these guys for nothing . It reeks of poor planing and a lack of any plan at all. Holland has been a awful Gm since the salary cap. He is just treading water to make the playoffs.

Oh the excuse on not protecting TP was he was not a good two way player and was always hurt . Good Old fashion red wing spin . I sure hope they are right . Should have tried to get something for them.

I just don't understand not trying to go young. Zetterberg already has a knee issue . Kronwall is in ir. Smith is banged up. Wish they would have gone with a a youth movement years ago.

It's like they're in denial on where the team currently stands among the NHL. Plus the owner seems to refuse to go back into a "rebuilding mode" once his franchise has reached a peak level of success. Look at how he's been running the Tigers the past few years.

Rumor is Kenny tried to shop both these players before putting them on waivers, even though I'm with you on trying to get something for them, if they were better than what we have on the current roster, they wouldn't have been put on waivers.

I'm all for a youth movement, but I fear this team's problems this season will be on the blue line and not up front.

I am very disappointed Detroit lost Pulks and Frk.

Pulks has a great shot and never given much of a chance. Hope he finds a ton of success in Minnesota, ditto for Frk in Carolina.

Recall, Detroit lost two forwards and signed three in free agency. Can't really file this as a shocker.

So Pulkkinen went unclaimed through waivers last week and Detroit was able to get Frk back. Guess it wasn't such an odd move after all.
