He won for playing the historic character Andrew Carhanan in The Assassination of Gianni Versace.

Just happened - I - or someone else can - will post the vid up as soon as it's on the internet.

I don't know how many of you watched it but The Assassination of Gianni Versace was brilliant, and Darren was unbelievable - not overusing the word here - as the psychotic and suave mass murderer Andrew Kunanan. He beat out some Hollywood heavyweights to win - Jeff Daniels, John Legend, Antonio (Antonio Bandejo is what I like to call him) Banderas, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Jesse Plemons.

The show also won for its category, and Penelope Cruz, Ricky Martin, Judith Light (from Who's the Boss? fame) Edward Ramirez and Finn Whitrock also were all nominated for best supporting actor/actress awards.

I have seen posts asking for viewing recommendations - I highly recommend this one.

And it's a mini-series, so there isn't the commitment to binge watching several seasons to get through it.

EDIT: Oh right...Ryan Murphy also won, for Best Director.
