I just read the very detailed article on Yahoo about Miami and all I can say is wow. The sad part is some of the players arent even denying it. They are admitting they took money and gifts. Others are talking about parties at hotels with strippers and prostitutes. The booster says everyone all the way up to the head basketball coach who just took the head job at Mizzou, The penalties the U could get for this may make USC's look like a slap on wrist.

Wow WTF? This blows away anything i've seen in my lifetime.

I guess we'll find out how far the NCAA is willing to go. Unbelievable.

IMO, the NCAA needs to just shut that program down for a while, ala SMU. The program has the morality of a federal prison and that will never change without severe penalties.

The only thing worse is how unsurprising these allegations are to all knowledgeable football fans who refuse to stick their heads up their ass. Fuck the NCAA.

I know they have said a couple times that they would never use the death penalty again but damn. It was like reading a book and it sounds very well documented with some of the players and coach's flat admitting it. It's like the are saying yeah we did it so what.

What were some of their major scandals in the past? Just being a dirty program, or was there a serious investigation before?

Is there any way for the school to pursue legal action against the players? If 5 players knowingly violate the rules, costing the program 2 bowl games, shouldn't they be able to try to recoup that money?

I will still be pissed if all O$U gets is a slap on the wrist.. it seems to be heading that way.. Funny how Mark Emmert the head of the NCAA use to work for Gordon Gee..

Re: Miami - And we're surprised becauuuse . . .

Not surprising at all. College Football is a joke, I hope this is a thread they can pull to unravel the whole charade that is NCAA athletics. If you root for a big time college football team, you have players on your team getting paid, being given gifts and cars, and receiving other benefits. There are no exceptions, I can guarantee you that.

Then shouldn't you be on the Tigers' or Lions' board?

When I first read the article I was pretty skeptical. There were far too many anonymous sources. Then I discovered those links for the players names where they broke down their evidence for individual players and coaches. It is pretty scary. And it would affect 4 or 5 other teams including Nebraska and Purdue.

Back in the height of the Ohio State media blitz, Willis McGahee said that if Ohio State had to forfeit the '02 title he should get a championship ring. I had a good laugh when I saw he was caught up in this for receiving improper benefits.

A case of - What goes around comes around? ::)

What is scary for Miami is that this isn't just about the football program. There are very serious allegations about the basketball program as well.
