one year $12M. He's 40 and done. I hope he contributes nothing to that team. I would like to see him fade off into the sunset and let that $12M get wasted with no return on the field.

Is he doing to DH or play first? He should not be allowed to play any other infield position.

I'm guessing he wants a farewell tour like Rivera, but I don't think his body will hold up.

Too bad, decent guy and one of the few Yankees who was not a complete douche. Probably the single most overrated player ever though.

Not a fan but anyone with over 3000 hits can't be too overrated.

Who are they going to have at short nunez? lol

it won't surprise me if Jeter is back at short, going by UZR and all the defensive metrics he is low rated, but how then does he make all those OOZ out of zone plays deep in the hole?

Many hall of famers with less numbers at that shortstop position, as well as at premium positions for production that are in.

1876 Runs and 3300plus hits is nothing to scoff at, 250+ homers, Eight 200 hit seasons, 525 doubles,
.312Ave .381OBP .446SLUG .828OPS 117OPS+ 4700Plus Total bases.

Those numbers are HOF. a Yankee and all the Championships.
(Look at the postseason numbers).
and from all accounts he played the game Clean....unlike so many current and ex-teammates.

He is in the sense that he was an all-star starter all the time, won how many gold gloves while not being a great SS, and everyone talks about he carried the Yankees to those 5 championships.

He was great, but the NY/east coast media way over hyped him like no other player.

If he played his whole career in Atlanta or someplace like Chipper did, he'd be far less hyped with the same stats. that's what I meant by overrated.

No doubt. The GG has been a joke for a lot of years now.
