2014 Draft Thread

The Lions biggest weakness is in the secondary. They need a #2 WR but I don't think you take him at #10. You certainly don't take two with your first two picks. That would be stupid!

Chris Houston was the Lions biggest weakness in the secondary last year. Hopefully the emergence of Darius Slay and maybe our 1st round pick Dennard will cancel his aging ass out for good. Slay, Dennard, Bentley, Green, and Greenwood would be fine by me. I don't see Houston beating out any of the first 3 guys listed at their respected roles.

i'm all for Jordan Matthews... while i'm not sure he's worth the #10 pick, i'm not so sure he'd still be there in the 2nd round. The kid has produced very well against SEC CBs and a mediocre QB at Vandy. i, personally, think he'll be a better pro than Lee, Evans or Benjamin.

i wouldn't mind picking him at 10, if he's graded as a first round prospect after the Senior Bowl and Combine.

The Lions biggest weaknesses is number 2 WR and number 3 WR.

Houston, Slay, Bentley at nickel. Young choices are already made at CB. Just need time to develop for the last 2. Houston can revert to 2010-2012 form.

He's lost a step, so no he cant. I'm just not sold on the guy anymore. His replacement when he was hurt outplayed him.

At this point, unless watkins is there at 10, i think we need to trade down.

I'm always willing to trade down but there has to be someone at 10 so someone has desire to trade up. If Bortles gets to 10, that would be Huge opportunity to trade down..

Mayhew doesn't with his first pick ever.
WR,WR is what I want if the board dictates.

Stud LT or CB woudn't bat an eye though. Or safety in Round 2.

I agree with you 100% LKP.

Watkins or trade down to get Dennard imo. I'd like to see hughes guy drafted by the Lions in Rd 2 (matthews), and the best safety available in round 3 or maybe a guy like josh huff in round 3

Hey Matthews is my guy. Not that he can't be Hughes or anyone else's. All aboard the 2nd round Matthews train. If I had my way it would be back to back Matthews in the first two rounds.

He can be your guy too, lol. Hughes was just the first person I saw mention him. He looks like the Alshon Jeffery of this draft to me.

Calvin Pryor will be gone in round one as well! He's rising fast and many draftniks like him better than Clinton-Dix.

IMO this makes no sense. The BIGGEST weakness on the Lions is their secondary.

Tom I'm going to look up all the first round cbs drafted over the past few years and their first or first two year impacts, you'll be suprised.

I don't mind a WR at 10 but I would want DBs in rounds 2 & 3. No way would I want WR,WR,TE

From 2014 draft, 1st round

D Milliner starting CB
DJ Hayden, CB, played well before going on injured reserve
E Reid, S, starting for 49ers and is an impact safety
X Rhodes, starting CB for Vikings
M Elam, starting S for the Ravens.

The Patriots draft this way, in multiples. No more Aging Burleson running screens, no more Durham drops, no more waiting on Broyles to emerge.
Scheme and coaching will improve our DBS faster than the draft IMO. We have what, 5 young guys who run a 4.4 or faster Green and Greenwood run a 4.2...the atleticism is there but their instincts have to improve. But I agree with you Tom, no arguments grabing a cb and a saftey in the draft.
