Fister Traded, now is retiring from baseball

Law was pretty much an idiot..but at the time I can't believe anyone wasn't completely thrilled when it happened.

Haha, there were even some idiots on the espn tigers board that were all over the trade when the Tigers had a bad start.

But yes, anybody who wasn't a complete moron was immediately happy with the trade.

Robbie Ray isn't on the DL. He has made 4 starts in June:

4 GS 20 IP 23 H 11 ER 9 BB 17 SO 4.95 ERA 1.60 WHIP 4.1 BB/G

For the season

13 GS 66.3 IP 72 H 26 ER 24 BB 50 SO 3.53 ERA 1.45 WHIP 3.3 BB/G

The concern is the WHIP

On the plus side, Ray should at the very least make a good LOOGY.

So there's some hope that Phil Coke will eventually be removed from the roster.

Fister's stats this year:

2014 Season
ERA W-L SO WHIP
2.65 6-2 36 1.04

Great trade!

Yep, and meanwhile we dont have a single player left from the trade on the ML roster, between Krol being on the DL, Ray being in toledo, and lombo/gonzo being gone.

Congrats to everyone in this thread!!! This is now the #9 ranked thread by post count!!!! The only other non game thread to come in the top 50 was the Yoenis Cespedes thread from 2 years ago coming in at #41. Awesome work guys!

http://www.freep.com/article/20140507/COL08/305070061/detroit-tigers-robbie-ray-drew-sharp

this guy has to be the biggest joke of a writer in the state of michigan.

does he even believe any of the stuff he writes or is his goal just to troll Michigan sports fans?

Nobody should take Drew Sharp seriously. His gimmick for years has just been to act as the constant contrarian and write the opposite of whatever the fans think or want. His articles are designed primarily to just get a rise out of people, I'm convinced of it. He's like Skip Bayless of ESPN.

And at #52...is the Kinlser/Fielder trade thread.

And the point being that this forum is busier since the closing of ESPN.

Or it's because this thread is bumped every time Fister scratches his nuts.

.....and also when assholes like me add to it by pointing it out.

Also, if all the other threads that were turned into Fister/Ray/DD threads were included into this one it might be giving KC's team notes thread a run for the top spot.

Guy is a clown. Almost dislike him as much as I do that chronic liar Rob Parker. Not a big fan of Mitch Album either.

This thread would have been nowhere near as busy if not for the few holdouts insisting that either: DD made a good trade for good players / Fister was hurt DD knew this / Ray is a future ace / Doug Fister had to be traded because of salary concerns / etc.

Take those handful of posters out, and it's a few pages of people venting over losing a quality pitcher in a lopsided trade (on it's face), and not all these pages of "I told you so" and people disputing Fisters credentials.

All that said, if it bothers anyone (specifically you since you have complained about it about 20 times) the simple solution is to not click the fucking thread in the first place.

Just to pile on...

I like DD, and think he is a good GM overall, but the Fister trade really baffles me. What we got in return was nothing near market value for a guy who could be the best pitcher on the Nationals staff this year (which is saying something!).

But here's one for the DD haters, remember that he was the one who brought in Fister from Seattle for next to nothing.

I for one don't hate DD, because I don't personally know him. I think he is a top 10 GM, just not a top 5.

Now that said, I do give props to DD for acquiring Guillen and Fister for what turned out to be nothing. However, that does not mean to say I need to be blinded on all of his transactions.

Robbie Ray gives up 8 ER Sunday night July 13th...

Well I believe he's coming back to the Tigers to make a spot start in the doubleheader against the Indians in game 1 on Saturday.

Unless this has changed any minds.

Good call. I had seen the headline but didn't read the article. I wouldn't call him up. Even if he had a decent start he needs to work on his game before he brings it against major league players again. VerHagen would be my choice but it would be after seven days off.
