The "What Are You Listening To Now" Thread

Stumbled across this LZ tribute by Ann & Nancy Wilson of Heart performing with Jason Bonham on a drum kit replica of his late father's and Yo Yo Ma on lead guitar on YouTube last week, it is from late '12 during the Kennedy Center Honors. Heart began as a Led Zeppelin covers band, so this is one of, if not the best cover of "Stairway To Heaven" that I have ever heard:

Seeing Robert Plant moved to tears near the end of the performance was pretty cool.

If anyone is interested in Christian Rock I strongly suggest Faith +1. I think they only put out one album, but it was pretty big...I think it went "myrhh" (the christian rock alternative to a "platinum" album).

I haven't come across a physical copy of the album, but you should be able to find some songs online.

Yeah, I like Skillet because they're a good rock band who are Christian. I grew up on rock/metal, but as I grew up it became clear to me that the sound I liked was generally linked with lyrics that were the white man's version of gangster rap: sex, drugs, anger, resentment, and depression. I became a Christian in my late 20's, and my music taste has necessarilly broadened to more mellow music... but my heart still loves that hard rock/metal sound. Skillet rocks and has a message I can get behind and totally agree with.

Thanks for the Faith+1 suggestion, I'll check them out. I prefer Christian music because the message is good for the soul, but there just aren't many good Christian hard rock/metal bands because the ones with vocal talent usually end up going more mainstream rock/pop to get radio play (Kutless, Sanctus Real). There are a few like POD and Red still doing it though.

That was exceptional. Shane Fontayne was the guitarist. I think I spotted Yo Yo Ma in the crowd though.

Also, I think I mentioned this elsewhere, but I wanted to add it to this thread since it's stuck with me.

Nice... and I fell for it. Sarcasm on an internet forum... props to you for pulling off such a difficult maneuver. Even more props for such a brilliant edit job to make me look even more gullible. You rule the internet!!!

Thanks for the props man. One thing though, I didn't edit my post.

WOW! Best cover I've ever seen. Plant wasn't the only one choked up. Other great performances, by the way. Foo Fighters, Lenny Kravitz, Kid Rock. Great stuff! Jack Black too. Thanks for posting. Really happy to have seen this.

Wow...never heard of this female guitarist (Orianthi)who has performed with Alice Cooper & Carlos Santana.

Pretty good for a chick who wasn't born yet when the late Jimi Hendrix was alive & shredding the guitar & warping the minds and ears of my generation in the 60s.

I've been listening to these guys a bit. They're different.

I see there are some Blues fans here, i'm a young guy but my pops got me into the Blues.

I love stuff like Albert Collins, Jimmy Thackery, Albert Cummings, Stevie Ray Vaughan and many more.

Check out Joe Bonamassa if you like Blues, the guy is a beast of a guitar player.
