Coaching Changes

DJ Smith announced as Ottawa Coach.

Was previously assistant coach for Toronto Maple Leafs.

Add him to the long list of NHL coaches with a Windsor Spitfire connection as he played junior there. He also served as Assistant/Associate coach for the Spitfires following the conclusion of his playing career. His player career in the NHL lasted 45 games between Toronto and Colorado.

Dave Tippett likely to be named next Oilers GM.

He was the front runner for the Seattle job.

The old Windsor Arena was awesome. Half-glass, birds in the rafters, great ice.

Who knows.

Perhaps the turmoil in front office could affect trying to sign free agent.

Or this is just the time that management decided to re-asses his position.

The Minnesota fans on HockeyFuture forum seem quite pleased he is gone, but taken a little aback it happened now instead of mid-season.

I assume they're not used to being 3 and 5?

Appears they were all OT/SO wins.

Would have been 9 points if they won those games in regulation.

Yaroslavl only missed the playoffs once in KHL history, and that was when the team was killed in the plane crash back in 2011-12. That included Brad McCrimmon who was coach and Ruslan Salei.

The coaches at that team certainly have a very short leash. Not quite sure why, Yaroslavl is good enough to make playoffs but CSKA/SKA are just so damn dominant.

Dunno if this man looks familiar to anyone here.

Excellent, because that is Kronwall.

Staffan Kronwall, he used to captain team Sweden at the world championships.

He was also an assistant captain at the 2018 Olympics.

The clock began ticking the moment Dubas took over as GM.

New GMs generally means a new coach within 12-18 months.

Dubas and Babcock are from the very opposite ends of the hockey spectrum. Dubas is the new 'analytics' school, while Babcock represents the 'old guard'.
