Lions Take San Diego CB Jamal Agnew In 5th Round.
CBSDetroit

CB Jamal Agnew from San Diego is pick No. 165 to Detroit. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound slot corner is a fast player who can handle the inside and also has potential as a returner. He averaged 12.7 yards per punt return last year.
The draft picks of Jamal Agnew and Teez Tabor shows how much the Lions want to upgrade their secondary.
Players like Alex Carter, Quandre Diggs and even Nevin Lawson (in a contract year) should be on notice with how the Lions have been drafting and working in free agency in the defensive backfield.
Not only is Jamal Agnew productive on the football field (37 career pass break-ups), but he was first-team all-conference as a basketball point guard and a 100-meter champion as a sprinter at San Diego.

The Lions recently brought Jamal Agnew into Detroit for a visit, thus his selection here isn’t a great surprise. His physicality will give him a chance to compete for playing time on nickel and dime downs, and his speed, vision, and cutting ability make him a dangerous return threat. —

2017 NFL draft: Miami QB Brad Kaaya selected by Lions in sixth round.

Lions pick Miami (Fla.) QB Brad Kaaya in Round 6 of NFL draft.
Freep

KAAYA GIVES LIONS MORE DEPTH AT QB.
A three year starter within a pro-style system, Brad Kaaya shows fast eyes working through progressions and is extremely accurate when throwing from a clean pocket. His lack of ideal mobility is a concern, and he needs to show he can be more consistent under pressure.
The Lions drafted a QB for the second straight year, taking Brad Kaaya from Miami. Kaaya was a three-year starter at Miami and will compete with Jake Rudock for the No. 2 QB spot behind Matthew Stafford. Should be a tough competition in camp.
Brad Kaaya's mom, Angela Means Kaaya, played Felicia in the classic movie Friday -- inspiring the famous line, "Bye, Felicia." She was also in House Party 3.
QB Brad Kaaya's inconsistent tape and lack of mobility pushed him down the board to the Lions in the sixth round. Kaaya has shown that can produce in a pro style system at Miami, but he needs a clean pocket and he will struggle vs. pressure. I thought Kaaya played really good football this past season vs. Pitt when looking at his accuracy, anticipation and the ability to work through his reads. But the majority of his tape is up and down. Needs time to develop with pro coaching in Detroit.
Brad Kaaya was quite steady in his three seasons at Miami, posting at least 8.3 yards per attempt each year. He also had just 12 interceptions in his final two seasons after throwing as many as a freshman.

The Lions' last pick in the 2017 draft (No. 250) is defensive end Pat O'Connor from Eastern Michigan. He is the second pick of the Lions from St. Rita high school in Chicago, along with Kenny Golladay. O'Connor had 14.5 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks last season. He's the second defensive lineman taken by Detroit in this draft.
Pat O'Connor sat out all of 2015 due to injury, but he racked up a combined 16 sacks and 29 tackles for loss in 2014 and 2016.

Round 1, pick No. 21: Jarrad Davis, LB, Florida.
Lions bypass Reuben Foster, select rival Davis at No. 21
Inside linebacker was clearly Detroit’s biggest need, and like Denver the pick prior, the Lions had their choice of the lot. Davis is one of the cleanest prospects in the draft, as he’s known as an excellent leader in the locker room and a tone-setter on the field. While he missed 11 tackles on the season, three came against Alabama in the SEC championship game, when he tried to come back early to play though an ankle injury that had kept him out of action the prior three games. He has the athleticism to play sideline-to-sideline, and yielded just one score on 66 total targets against in his three seasons at Florida. —
PFF

Round 2, pick No. 53 overall: Teez Tabor, CB, Florida.
Lions take third Florida defensive back of Round 2
While he tested poorly at the combine, Tabor was excellent on the field at Florida throughout his college career. On 143 career targets into his coverage, he yielded just 68 catches and two touchdowns while picking off nine passes and breaking up 23. Opposing QBs recorded a rating of just 41.2 when throwing into his coverage. Tabor should challenge early for the No. 2 cornerback spot opposite Darius Slay in Detroit. —
PFF

Round 3, pick No. 96 overall: Kenny Golladay, WR, Northern Illinois.
Lions snag deep-threat WR on Day 2
Kenny Golladay was at his best as a deep threat in 2016, as he can track the ball well and hauled in 14 deep targets (20 or more yards downfield), 10th-most in the draft class. Golladay has been one of the more sure-handed wide receivers in the country, dropping five passes over the past two seasons. —
PFF

Round 4, pick No. 124 overall: Jalen Reeves-Maybin, LB, Tennessee.
Jalen Reeves-Maybin is another athletic linebacker for the Lions, but missed much of 2016 due to injury. Despite this, he still made a whopping 107 combined defensive stops between 2014 and 2016. —
PFF

Round 4, pick No. 127 overall: Michael Roberts, TE, Toledo.
Michael Roberts was a reliable receiving option over the middle for the Rockets last season, as he doubled-up the rest of the country’s tight ends with 16 touchdown receptions and just three dropped passes.
He earned the highest PFF overall grade among tight ends in the FBS last season, with an 85.9 mark. —
PFF

Round 5, pick No. 165: Jamal Agnew, CB, San Diego.
The Lions recently brought Jamal Agnew into Detroit for a visit, thus his selection here isn’t a great surprise. His physicality will give him a chance to compete for playing time on nickel and dime downs, and his speed, vision, and cutting ability make him a dangerous return threat. —

PFF

Round 6, pick No. 215 overall: Brad Kaaya, QB, Miami (FL).
We rated Brad Kaaya sixth among quarterbacks in the draft class, thus Detroit got excellent value with this pick late in the sixth round. When he had a clean pocket at Miami in 2016, he threw for 24 touchdowns and just five interceptions, and recorded a QB rating of 113.0. His 102.9 overall QB rating ranked ninth in the draft class. —
PFF

Round 7, pick No. 250 overall: Pat O’Connor, Edge, Eastern Michigan.
Pat O’Connor had a strong senior season in Ypsilanti, as he posted an 83.4 overall grade. He racked up nine sacks, eight hits and 18 QB hurries, but managed just 10 run stops in 2016. —
