Tigers win an amazing game...4-3 over Yankees. Lose lead in 8th, take lead in bot. 8th, lose lead in 9th, win in bottom of 9th on Santos SF.

Game had a little bit of everything: Cabrera became 1st hitter ever to hit 2 HR to CF - 869 to 950 feet worth of HR, 2nd one broke 2-2 tie in 8th.

First Cabrera HR gave Tigers 1-0 in 4th, Berry single scored Kelly to give Tigers 2-0 lead in 5th. Yankees tied gm w/ runs in 6th & 8th.

Cabrera's 2nd HR to CF made it 3-2 in 8th...and just electrified the 44,000+ at Comerica Park...but then came the 9th...

Valverde hit Martin to start 9th, walked Jeter. W/ one out, hit A-Rod. Bases loaded. W/ 2 outs, walked Teixeira on 3-2 pitch - gm tied, 3-3.

With Ibanez up, Santos missed foul pop by Yankees dugout, extending AB. But Valverde got Ibanez to bounce out to end top of 9th.

In bottom 9th, Boesch singled with one out, went to 3rd on Peralta single...Santiago - PH for Kelly - was intentionally walked to load bases.

Then Santos - with OF shallow - drove ball deep enough to RF to easily score Boesch, and deliver an exhausting 4-3 win.

When Leyland PH Santiago - it was only move he could make...Dirks, Laird and Avila were all unavailable because of injuries.

Kelly provided defenisve highlight of the night - robbing Teixeira of HR on wind-blown ball to LF - going over fence to bring ball back.

Just heard that ESPN says Cabrera's HRs to CF measured 910 feet combined......the "most feet" of any 2-HR game this year...

Tigers Notebook : Jim Leyland forced to scramble as Tigers' injuries mount.
from the detnews

Another concern is relief pitcher Joaquin Benoit, who had tightness in his right (throwing) forearm after a quirky play in the seventh inning. Alex Rodriguez called for time as Benoit began his pitching motion. Benoit threw the pitch into the protective netting behind home plate.
"When he threw that pitch that went up against the screen, he got some tightness," Leyland said. "That's the one that has me concerned because we've been pretty much snake-bitten. He's a big key for us."
Leyland said he was unsure of the extent of Benoit's injury, but he's concerned that the injuries are piling up.
"I don't know what's going to go on with Benoit.
