The good news is Dombrowski has started selling, so maybe we won?t be down for long. Price is on his way to Toronto for 3 left-handed pitchers: Daniel Norris, Matt Boyd and Jairo Labourt
The Tigers are battling their second straight AL wild card opponent. The O?s have won 5 straight games. The Tigers have lost 11 of their last 16 games and are still in 4th place in the AL Central (lowest spot after the All-star break since 2008). They are 3.5 games back (with 4 teams ahead of them in the standings) of the Twins for the last wild card spot.
Simon is 5-4 with a 5.57 era in 10 road starts. Simon is coming off his best start in months?a 6 inning, 5 hit, 1 run effort in a win against Boston but had to leave the game with a groin strain.
Gonzalez beat the Tigers 2 starts ago. He went 5 innings and gave up 6 hits and 2 runs in the 9-3 win. In his last start against the Rays he went 7.2 innings and gave up 1 run.
The Tigers are 29 for 93 (.312) with 5 home runs against Gonzalez. Cespedes is 5 for 11, Gose is 6 for 18 with a homer, Rajai is 4 for 12 with 3 homers and Kinsler is 3 for 13 with a homer. The Tigers have scored 2 runs or less in 6 of their last 7 games. JD was robbed of a home run by Tampa?s ridiculous stadium but he now only has 1 homer and 3 rbi?s in his last 12 games. VMart has a 13 game hit streak at Camden Yards and is batting .392 with 4 homers during that stretch.
The O?s have little history against Simon. They are hitting .400 (8 for 20) with 1 home run against him. Travis Snyder has seen the overwhelming majority of those at bats and is 5 for 15. Davis is 2 for 2 and has the lone home run.
Temps are expected to be in the 90?s with a good chance for rain in the afternoon and evening.
