Trade Deadline 2019

Washington Acquire:
Karl Hagelin

Los Angeles Acquire:
3rd round pick [2019]
Conditional 6th round pick [2020]

Wings trade Jensen to the Capitals and a player. Can't remember his name.

The player was Madison Bowey.
Wings also trade a 5th.

5th round pick [2019]

Detroit Acquire:
Madison Bowey
2nd round pick [2020]

Bowey is a young defenceman, had some good offensive numbers in junior and minors.

Been playing minimal minutes in the NHL. If Detroit is willing to scratch some veterans, perhaps Bowey can play his way onto Wings very weak D. Anything after that will be up to him. But the 10-12 minutes a night he was playing in Washington isn't exactly best for development of a young D.

Couldn't he just take Jensen's Minutes?

Jensen was getting extra time to raise his profile.

Detroit actively handcuffs their young players. The Wings currently have 8 D on the roster including Bowey.

It’s a good deal for both clubs. Capitals gets 29 decent defender and the wings get project with some upside plus a second round pick to get younger. We yelled at Kenny when he signed guys like Jensen to extension like he got in Washington so we have to like this move

right ?

Dallas acquire:
Mats Zuccarello

Rangers acquire:
Conditional 2nd round pick [2019]*
Conditional 3rd round pick [2020]**

*Upgrades to 1st round pick if Dallas makes it to 3rd round and Zuc plays 50% of the games.
**Upgrades to 1st round pick if Zuc re-signs with Dallas.

Nice to see more teams taking advantage of conditional picks. Still, quite a bit of overpayment if Zuc ends up costing Dallas 2 first round picks. Zucs return might be a comparable for Nyquist if he is moved, assuming a team on his list is still interested.
