Through reading most articles, the single most important aspect to me was he was so intoxicated at around 12 hours before game time, that he had to be taken to the hospital. This implies, to me, that his blood alcohol content was probably .20 or above. If true, then he would have still been legally impaired at game time.
IMO, this isn't the lone time he has done this. 99.9% of DUI/DWI offenders are not caught on the first time they drank and drove. Which, is somewhat equivalent.
To me, it isn't about the scuffle, the racial slurs or anything else but the presumed alcohol excess that close to game time. If it was an off day, then it would be a difference to me. If it was during off season, again, a big difference.
And certainly, the Tiger's Organizational is responsible for setting the tone for in season off field conduct, especially on the road. I am not sure about anyone else, but my employer would probably can my ass if I showed up for work with a .05 - .08 BAC.
Delmon Young, the police and most probably the Tigers (MLB) know what the facts are.
Where there is smoke...there tends to be fire. But even if no fire, then there was something that caused the smoke. Smoke does not just appear from nothing.
