I'm A-Ok with Scherzer starting game 1 of the World Series. (If it went 7)

Fister starting game 1 on 1 extra days rest.
Sanchez starting game 2 on normal rest
Verlander starting game 3 on normal rest.
Scherzer starting game 4 on 2 extra days rest.

Its the only rotation that makes sense to be honest.

The TBS guys were saying that Verlander started the ALDS on two extra days rest, and as a result he wasn't as sharp as usual early in the game - and that last night was normal rest; consequently, his typical dominance.

Exactly you keep JV on his normal routine and in the process you give an obviously ailing Scherzer a couple extra days rest since its obvious by the drop in velocity the shoulder ailment is bothering him.

Game 1: Saturday, Oct. 13
Game 2: Sunday, Oct. 14
Game 3:Tuesday, Oct. 16
Game 4: Wendesday, Oct. 17
Game 5*: Thursday, Oct. 18
Game 6*: Saturday, Oct. 20
Game 7*: Sunday, Oct. 21

Game 1: Fister
Game 2: Sanchez
Game 3: Verlander
Game 4: Scherzer
Game 5: Fister
Game 6: Sanchez
Game 7: Verlander

If Baltimore wins this rotation will be perfect. Fister in game 1 and your weakest pitcher still getting a home game. Then you get your best 3 pitchers on the road.

You know its amazing when your say your weakest pitcher yet over the last 7 starts Sanchez has a 2.48 ERA - 0.97 WHIP - 40/7 K-BB Ratio lmao. The lack of offense is the only reason he is actually 2-3 over those last 7 starts is the Tigers have actually scored a grand total of 17 runs in those 7 starts.

you are right. He is making himself some money! If the bats can wake up I like their chances......but that is a big IF!

Just to finish off some numbers on our rotation.

Verlander 8 Starts - 1.55 ERA - 1.01 WHIP - 63/15 K-BB Ratio
Scherzer 7 Starts - 1.64 ERA - 0.88 WHIP - 44/7 K-BB Ratio
Sanchez 7 Starts - 2.48 ERA - 0.97 WHIP - 40/7 K-BB Ratio

Yeah but they were against weaker competition, lol. Sorry but that was the general argument that some made here last week. Sanchez has been good. And I really hope we have a chance to sign him in the off season.

Whether it was against weaker competition or not the fact is those were must win type games in the middle of a playoff hunt. Trust me from experience teams out of the running for a playoff spot only play for the role of spoilers which can make it just as difficult. Bottom line is ALL of our starters have been impressive since Sept 1st.

Sanchez's start against NY this year was 3 innings 7 hits and 7 runs. Es no bueno.

Porcello was much better against the Yankees including 6 innings of 1 run ball at the band box.

1 lousy game. Means little.

Here is some extra stats from our 6 main starting pitchers this year against teams who finished the year with a .500 or better winning %

16 Starts - 4.74 ERA - 1.25 WHIP
9 Starts - 4.28 ERA - 1.15 WHIP
18 Starts - 2.50 ERA - 1.08 WHIP
17 Starts - 3.98 ERA - 1.36 WHIP
15 Starts - 2.85 ERA - 1.17 WHIP
8 Starts - 3.98 ERA - 1.22 WHIP

See if you can figure out who is who.

Schedule updated with pitching match-ups. Only question is I wonder if they start CC on short rest in game 3? I expect they do so that he can pitch against Verlander.

They did last season. I rather have HFA and the O's.

Technically he didn't start against us on short rest in last years playoffs. His game 1 start was rained out like with Verlander so his start in game 3 really wasn't short rest. He did come into game 5 on 2 days rest in relief and proceeded to give up 2 hits, 1 ER, 2BB and 4K in 1.1 innings.

But you get the drift, he was going to start on short rest but thanks to the rain..
