2014 Free Agents

We're rumored to be interested in Beltran, but we have a lot of competition, including the spankees. Also, he wants 3 years and I dunno if thatd be a good idea.

As good as Beltran is, I would pass just for injury concerns. Give me Choo instead.

But I like the idea of driving up the price of guys we won't likely sign.

Any possibility the Tigers could work a trade with Oakland for Cespedes? I've read lots of teams are asking about him. On the surface it doesn't make sense for Oakland considering they are contenders at the moment, but you never know given Beane's track record. The Tigers were involved in the Cespedes bidding war as well when he first came to the country weren't they? Probably just a pipe dream, but he would look great out in LF and batting in the 5 spot!

No thanks.

You don't like Cespedes? I guess I've always been a big fan of his, although he didn't have a great year last year. He still has the potential to be an All-Star type player, and he is a lethal fastball hitter (imagine him in front of Cabrera). Maybe I'm just remembering how much he scared me during the ALDS haha.

I suppose the Tigers could just sign one of these free agents like Beltran or Choo and not have to trade anybody. Probably makes more sense anyway.
