2016 NFL Draft Thread

In the scheme of things Backus was very solid and maybe more important - healthy.

I never understood all of the hate for Backus. Obviously he wasn't anything special, but his career was decent. He definitely had some bad stretches, but I think the weakness of the rest of the line always made him look worse than he was.

I like the Bills, Browns, Colts, Saints, and Redskins drafts so far. While I'm glad the Lions have addressed important need positions, I like the Bears and Vikings drafts more than our own among our division.

The Bears and Vikings didn't have to deal with Mayhews terrible roster moves and drafting. The exciting picks will come, just not this year. I do love the direction the Vikings are heading though, and yeah the Bears draft is impressive so far

Interesting "fact". Backus had/has the 4th longest streak of snaps without giving up a sack (2007-2015) Only ended because he retired. This is a pff stat

That said I though RT was a much bigger liability. However I still think it was mostly because of the center position. LTs need help. They are going against elite athletes. With the struggle of the LG and C, RG was forced to help inside. Leaving Tackles on their own.

Get a smart talented center that can handle protection calls and the whole line will play better.

I find this "fact" hard to believe since Peppers destroyed Stafford's shoulder after going past Backus in 2010.

I was always more annoyed by Backus' penalties than his blocking. Killing a drive with a 3rd and 2 false start isn't much better than getting beat for a sack.

It is when the sack destroys your high priced qbs throwing shoulder

Was that Goodell's way of admitting concussions effect the brain?
