2020 Dem candidate

Maybe pro-lifers - generally Republicans - should get behind their unionizing, and then picketing.

Then it would be counterintuitive from Democrats - mostly pro-choicers - to encourage pregnant women to cross the picket lines to get abortions.

I want PP workers to unionize in spirit, realize their errors, and quit en masse. I'm sure may do quit, but are replaced by someone else. I understand turnover is high in PP mills.

planned parenthood gets a bad rap. They provide a desperately needed service.

"According to Planned Parenthood's most recent 2017-2018 annual report, it committed 332,757 abortions in fiscal year 2017, up by 11,373 abortions since 2016."

Tell me about it.

He's right though, Planned Parenthood does more than just that one thing, just like the Catholic Church does more than molest young alter boys

You have a point.

Catholic Social Services gets high praise from non-Catholics for its work in relief for the needy.

Planned Parenthood assists people in learning ways to ?spill the seed? that don?t result in unwanted pregnancies.

Everybody wins.

Dems say there going boycott the next debate I hope they do nobody really wants to hear much they have to say anyway and don’t already watch as is

Yeah, we started covering this about ten posts ago.

Oh is that what?s it about, I haven?t really been paying attention to them, for some reason I thought it was over labor unions.

Yeah and the whole thing is going on here in Los Angeles where I am, so it?s been covered a lot locally.

I was just goofing with you.

Sin is pervasive. But I think that PP will still be killing babies in the US at a rate of 3,000/day five years from now, while the pernicious acts on the part of priests has a.) largely ended and b) Is finally being exposed and addressed with C.) processes in place to prevent them in the future.

Also, 100-percent of all abortionists abort babies. But, point taken.

I want to believe that because obviously, regardless of my opinion on religion, I don't want to see any kids hurt. But what do you base that on? Just recently at my wife's alma mater the president got in deep water for covering up a scandal for a priest on campus. This is a Catholic University by the way. Personally, it seems like from what I've seen the church would much rather sweep things under the rug but since you're closer to the situation, I'd like to hear it from you, biased as it may be.

Keep in mind that many Catholic Universities (most of them) are Catholic in Name Only. I?d be interested in the University you refer to.

I base my opinion it on the actions in my own arch diocese (Charlotte, NC), for one, that has a zero-tolerance policy for any form of sexual misconduct on the part of any employee or priest. I have had to undergo extensive and ongoing training to even be in the presence of youth for the organization I run. Same goes for the arch diocese of Detroit, which is very aggressive in investigation and resolution of past offenses and is doing everything right to purify. I think that the light is on the Church and it is in the process of purification, and this scandal is a subset of our entire society. Tragically, the Church is supposed to be the Light, and it will be again.

However, I am not so naive to think that there are not incidences of abuse somewhere in the Church, but I believe that they will be brought out and properly dealt with.

St Norbert College (De Pere, Wisconsin)

Thanks for responding. I know in most cases opinions on that topic are extremely anecdotal but I was curious nonetheless.

What more do they do besides abortions and handing out birth control (something you clearly don't need an abortion mill to do)?

wow - when I lived in Chicago I (briefly) dated a girl that was a St Norbert alum. When she told me where she went to school I remember thinking "I've never heard of it before and probably never will again." As they say, "never say never."

While he's answering that one, answer this: what does the catholic church do that's not actively harmful to humanity, besides token support for charity, something they don't even do well anymore, see e.g. the recent post on the "Christians behaving badly" thread (and something you clearly don't need an international organization of child rapists and abusers to do)?

what does what the Catholic church does have to do with what Planned Parenthood does?

But to answer your question, virtually everything.

It saves souls from eternal damnation for starters.

Their website says they test for and treat STDs and provide hormone therapy for the transgender.

?We?re not just about abortions anymore.?.

It says they provide services to men too.

Even though I?ll probably never use them, I guess it?s comforting knowing I have PP as a non-abortion resource.

I had no idea this was the case.
