3 Pros 3 Cons: Lions vs. Rams Week 1

Defense kept us in the game. However, i could see how were going to be in worlds of trouble once we play better passing teams with mutiple receiving weapons.

Is the Logan experiment over yet?

I think he has blackmail photos on someone. Would love to see someone like Broyles given the chance as it would open up a roster spot for another DB or RB with more talent.

Yeah a win is a win especially considering the injuries were dealing with right now. Kevin Smith had a great day and that is important because we cannot have games like last year when we had absolutely no running game at all. Getting Leshoure back week 3 should also help Smith stay healthy given him a chance to split time instead of being a feature.

My 3's would be

Pros:

1. Stafford overcame and proved once again this team is never out of it
2. Kevin Smith and O-line great job
3. D-Line great job
4. Went for the win instead of playing for overtime. (so many previous Lions coaches wouldn't have done that) so happy to finally have the right mindset in a coach.

Ok that might be more than 3 sorry.

Cons:

1. Logan
2. Stupid Personal fouls yet still from Young, or I guess it's Young Sr now, oh sure it is act like then young.
3. Too many dropped passes from the Tight ends.

Oh, and since I didn't see it posted yet... congrats to Stafford on his first reception.

IMO that makes it a bad day.....any time you throw 3 INTs it's a bad day. He will need to be better than that next week if they are to beat the 49ers

Bad day my ass. He regrouped, didn't panic and had good 3rd and 4th quarters. No way on Earth we say that about past Lions QB's the last 15 years.

The Lions finally play FOUR quarters of football, and the fans call it a bad day.

Boy, if we could go back in time about three years, how our former selves would slap us silly.

It feels ridiculous... and yet, that's what happens when teams raise the bar. We expect better now. And that feels good.

Pros:

1. Running game/Smith. 2 rushing goal line td's. Not a ton of yards but effective running. That's all we need.
2. The run D. Jackson's longest carry was 9 yards and the longest Rams carry was 11 yards.
3. That we have a QB and offense that can march us right down the field when we absolutely have to have it. The drive to tie it at 20 was all first downs. The game winning drive never went to a 3rd down.

Cons:

1. That we continue to dig oursleves into holes
2. The dropped passes
3. That Calvin was not targeted enough

And there's one more huge pro. Our QB threw a pick 6 in our own red zone. Our QB threw 2 picks in their red zone...and we won the friggin' game. We were all complaining about the offense and how it disappeared for a while in that game and we still scored 27 points and mananged to win. They are never out of a game and they are fun to watch. I love that I would never consider turning off the tv anymore. In the past 10-15 years if we fell behind by 10 points the game was absolutely done. Not the Matt Stafford Lions.

Stop it..every one of you sat on your couch Sunday and said "Man Mike Vick had a bad day today."

Yeah, but Vick threw 4 INTs, not 3. ;P

Seriously though, he had a rough game for certain, but he still won so how bad could it be???

Its a good day for the team..Stafford overcame his bad game which is a good thing. But he still had a bad overall game is the way I look at it. If Romo threw 3 1st half picks and ended up winning I would be happy that he managed his way through a rough day but I don't think I'd say he didn't have a bad game. thats all.

Bad game, good game. Meh.

He had an off-day and got it done when it mattered.

Right bad game, good finish, good end result..it's nice to win the ugly ones instead of losing them.

Scheff and Heller made some big catches, I thought Petti was the only TE that dropped anything, then again i'm getting old and forgetful..

I didn't say bad game, I said off day. There's a difference. Because as others have said, how can it be a bad day when the team won because the QB got it done?

...or is it your memory is laser sharp and are you just remembering too accurately so many of the previous games with similar drops by Pett and they've started to all blur together?

hmmm...chicken v egg that one.

i counted 3 drops for pettidrop. maybe we should do a thread that tracks it throughout the year similar to when a pitcher gets a K lol.

I just told you why it was a bad game..because anyone but a homer can see how a QB throwing 3 INTs in a single game had a bad game..you can't turn the ball over that many times and be happy about it period. Off day is a sugar coated homer way of saying bad game. He stepped up when he needed to so props to him but he still had a bad game. Like I said, I know damn well you think Vick had a bad game.

Bad day... Rough day... Off day... Whatever.

Three years ago every one of use would have been putting back a cold one in celebration and smiling like madmen all week, just because we saw the Lions win.

Today we are discussing what could have been better in a win. The culture has changed. We expect to beat up bad teams and hang with good ones.

I like it! It's more fun this way.
