[color=#006400 said:KalineCountry[/color]]I've thought for awhile that the voters look for certain numbers, round numbers, 3000 hits, 500 or more homeruns, MVP awards, lots of Gold Gloves for players, or gimmicks like backflips.
Middle infielders imo need less certain/magic numbers like 2500 hits, over 1000 runs and rbi. This might be what is causing Trammell to languish with low percentages in the balloting all these years. Maybe his candidacy would have had a better chance and voting totals all these years if he had gotten to 2500 hits. I also think this helps players that played for mid-market teams. As much as I think he is HOF worthy, I think he will fall short of the 75% required and will get in at a later date with a Veteran's Committee vote. I don't like it, but it's a gut feeling. I just hope I'm wrong and before his 15 years are up he gets a boost after larkin gets in with voters looking at the numbers and seeing a very close and similar player.
Also a shame he was screwed for the 87 MVP by that shythook for the bluejays.

Tramm was known for not having a strong arm, whether the voters look at that or not,I don't know.
