@AltNatParkSer

Yeah, I know. I recently read an article comparing the avg. daily electricity use of a Nigerian vs. an American, and even though I should not have been, was still surprised by the disparity.

Well, we probably have substantially more shit that we use that we need to power up, so this only makes sense.

We're at double the per capita use of the European Union too.

We waste so much energy...I am as guilty as anybody. The last car I bought, I went with the V6 over the 4 cyl that got much better mileage because I didn't like how loud the 4 banger was. We leave our house at 72 degrees almost all day and only lower it a few degrees at night. Hell, right now I have 3 monitors running. The one in the middle has my work on it, one has the internet / this board and the third has Breaking Bad playing on netflix. I'm going to do my part...I'm going to turn one off.

Done...I turned my work monitor off!

Turn off the one with board on.

according to the projections I've read, most of us will be dead (or dying) by the time the environmental changes we've wrought start to make themselves really felt. sea level rise, mass extinctions, droughts, loss of arable & habitable land, etc. But our kids will be there to deal with it, whether like you they don't give a shit about the environment or they do.

you can "not give a shit about the environment" ... but unfortunately you still have to live in it.

Who said I don't give it shit. I really don't feel like explaining it to you so please reread it..

That's only because their wall sockets need special plugs. If they were regular electronic shit over there would be a lot more easy to use.

I try to use the plugs with only 2 prongs instead of 3 whenever possible.

Oh. I assumed because your next comment was the "scientists can blow me" one that you fell on the "I don't give a shit about the environment" end of the spectrum of concern you mentioned.

I know little about how all this works but I had heard 3 prongs are a bit safer. Not sure if true or not.

my understanding is the third/bottom prong is to ground the device in the event of a short circuit.

not sure why gulo, as a man of science, would be opposed to that.

Humor fail. Trying to imply 3 prongs deliver more power than 2.

There is a higher power version of the regular US plug, same voltage and everything, just 20 amp instead of 15.

(not that's anyone needs to know that. I'm just trying to redeem myself after the humor fail.)
