Anthony Kennedy said to be retiring

that sucks. well, they were often disappointed in him, but he delivers for the GOP in the end... Trump is going to aim low with this one. Really low.

he might even try to appoint one of his brainless kids to the job, or a Breitbart editor or something.

do you hate what he did with his first pick?

No, I don't hate it (or love it). He's a fine replacement for Scalia. But that doesn't fill me with confidence regarding a replacement for Kennedy.

Harriet Miers seems still to be available.

This should be Trump's first pick, if Kennedy retires.

Or in reality, who McGahn picks.

maybe he'll honor his agreement with Stormy Daniels and nominate her

Well, Kennedy has been unpredictable, but Trump is unpredictable too.

So you may end up being happy.

Oh. You quoted a post that didn't have anything to do with Harriet Miers, in the post of yours I quoted in my most previous post.

Maybe you'd like Miers, if conservative opponents in the appointing president's own party moved to block here.

Maybe she would be more like Kennedy, if that's the case.

Certainly, a lot of conservatives ended up not liking the way the Kennedy appointment worked out.

I don't know about Stormy Daniels, but Jenna Jameson is pretty well known for being an outspoken conservative Republican; she has recently converted to Judaism and she's quite openly hostile towards Islam.

I don't know as much about that soft core porn chick from Texas who was in the Ted Cruz ad that was pulled when it got into the news that she had been in porn, but at the time she was making headlines she claimed to be a conservative Republican herself.

So those are two options who would be ideologically pure.

EDIT: Amy Lindsay. That's the name of the chick who was in the Ted Cruz ads.

I would like that she's 72.

Ted Cruz also liked porn on twitter once.

Well Gorsuch should have been Garland but then you know the cheating Gop had to cheat their way to a ultra conservative selection. Sadly this court will be anti-human being for the next 25-40 years . Not holding my breath that Trump will pick anyone other then a ultra conservative.

Screw those over the hill, nipped and tucked, botox injected, fake boobie ex-pronstars.

If McGahn-Trump really wanna make a splash, and go for a young jailbait-looking RW know-it-all femme firebrand, then they should pick Tominatrix Lahren.

If it were up to Donnie Dinkydigits all by his lonesome though, he might pick Faux News "Judge" Jeanine Pirro.

why not? should he replace Kennedy with someone like Kennedy? of course not. he should replace him with someone who upholds the Constitution without legislating from the bench. he should replace him with someone more like Scalia than Kennedy or Ginsberg or Sotomayor.

As you probably expect, I see it differently. I think the lines about "upholding the Constitution" vs "legislating from the bench" are BS, since the justices (on both sides) with the more consistent records went against their supposed take on that in Bush vs. Gore. If I could create a litmus test, it would have something to do with protecting the checks and balances of government and checks against businesses having so much power over their own regulation. Seeing how that's not easy, I'll settle for as split a court as I can get, with people that don't always vote in the same groupings, and you don't get that by replacing Kennedy with a Scalia.
