Are We Done?

Our OL is the biggest need now, losing 3 out of 5 starters. If a top tackle is there at 5, I believe you have to take them.

Heard the same shit about Backus for years.....yet stafford threw 8730 passes last year and survived all 16. If I'm not mistaken Allen, Peppers and Matthews were all in the division last year too.

You don't think a rookie LT.....as good as Fisher might be.....wont get lit up A LITTLE by those three??? C'mon....you're smarter than that.

Backus got staff and a dozen other qbs hurt multiple times throughout his career. You're certainly smarter than that. It was a fluke last season. Fisher at least has the measurables to succeed. Unless we find an elite lt prospect we'll always be worrying is today the day peppers blows by backus, I mean reiff untouched to send our franchise qb to the IR?

I understand your opinion.

Here's mine.

It's a passing league. You can't have enough good CB's. Milliner could make our secondary a strength.....making the DL even better. You can't pass on him.

Peppers had 1.5 sacks against Jordan Gross. 1 against Okung. 1 against Duane Brown.

Guess you wouldnt want any of them either.

That shit happens.

Listen, i guess i have to say it again. I have NO PROBLEM with a LT #5.....as long as Milliner is not sitting there.

Try to understand that.

Since you said he'll be fine against the leagues elite pass rushers I'm no longer worried.... Better hope he's got a quick drop step. He'll need it with those T. rex arms.

Backus had 32/12 inch arms, Reiffs 33/12. LT in round 1 two years in a row? No thanks

Glad you agree with me. It is a passing league and if the guy that passes the ball is on his back every play then the rest doesn't really matter.

Yeah they did great in the playoffs, right? GB and NE had the worst defenses, how did that work for them?

I understand. Just felt like ranting about my dislike on reiff at left tackle.

Is it just because of the arms because there is no way of knowing he can't handle the job. Not based on experience anyway, you have a crystal ball?

Its not quite as bad as that. Peterman was horrible, its not like we lost a good player there. Regardless who we grab, the OL should be better.

I agree with diggler. hes not a stud LT...I don't care how long his arms are. If he was a stud LT he would have been playing over gosder last year. Not sure if u guys remember....but he was a part time full back. Fisher would be an immediate upgrade to the LT position given our current roster. The decision between a stud LT and an elite pass rusher is a tough one....mainly cause we haven't had either on this team in such a long time. The downside to the Ansah argument is does anyone really know if he
ll be an elite pass rusher? He was a back up DE for frikken BYU. Its a tough call and will probably come down to who is still on the board making all this conversation moot.

Can we all agree that Peterman blew, right? Okay, Reiff at RG would be an improvement at RG, right? Why wasn't Reiff our RG? What I'm getting as it has nothing to do with Gosder being better or Peterman but more along the lines of Schwartz being a moron for taking the 23 pick and making him play FB.

So I'm not sure anyone can say he was "beat out" - no one knows that. I've seen the guy play and IMO he'd be a solid LT. I want Fisher too but if that didn't happen I'd have no problem with Reiff at LT. And btw, you don't need to be a stud LT. Very few stud LT in the NFL. Backus certainly wasn't a stud and played 12 years.

agree with this too :D Peterman sucks. Reiff probably is better than gosder. Why reiff wasn't playing is just plain dumb. Disagree with your last point. Sure backus played a lot the last 12 years. But I don't recall ever having a good oline during those 12 years either. We never stood a chance to get elite status until we upgraded our oline....that's included backus and definitely includes Crayola.

That's the point. Backus was average, Crayola less than average and the rest just garbage until we got Sims at LG. What I really meant was Reiff not playing above Gosder or Peterman probably had little to do with talent and a lot to do with Schwartz going vet over rookie.

IMO, you start your 1st pick until he fails. Putting him as FB basically was just dumb.

Reiff started and played well vs the Vikings when Backus missed is lone game this past season....He can handle the LT job.

Kind of my thoughts too. I feel like this article and short arm stuff is getting blown way out of proportion. Give the man a chance to fail before you decide he can't succeed.
