Avengers EndGame 5 day start

Is this comic book movie the same as the other comic book movies that come out on a monthly basis now?
 
Just got back from seeing it. First movie in years where I had to wait in line to go into the theater, and have ticket stubs checked. Guess they sold almost every seat for every showing Friday through Sunday and are worried about people just walking in and sitting down. (I have though of it before myself, walk in, buy some pop and some popcorn then just go in and sit down, nobody ever gives us a second look, or asks to see tix usually)

My take was the movie was okay. Not as great as I thought it could have been, but still superior to all the shit DC puts out by far.
 
I liked it a lot . Hit all the bells and whistles for me. Wish Thor was written a tad differently. I know contract were up for the major actors but man why give up that type of cash ?
 
It took in 90% of all US ticket sales. Nothing else cleared $10 million. And the number 2 movie in theaters was Captain Marvel.
 
I didn't realize that there are 22 Avengers movies...I've only seen 3. Iron Man 1 & 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy.

There are 4 Avengers movies, and argument could be made for 5 counting Captain America: Civil War, which did not include Hulk or Thor. The others are single character based films where occasionally another character has a supporting role.

But for the most part it's because they are highly profitable in both ticket sales and merchandising. I won't be surprised if in 10 years there has been about 22 more, Disney's not the type of company to give up on a cash cow, see Star Wars as an example.

It's clear with hindsight is that they didn't actually know how well this would all work and they made these movies either with contingency plans or at least enough flexibility to write their way into a truncated version if it flopped. The 'tesseract' allowed them to hedge against whether or not they were talking about the cosmic cube or maybe another power stone between that and Loki's spear, so they had a little wiggle room in counting power stones that not too many people noticed until maybe this last movie. Given the uncertainty, it's impressive they aimed as high as they did and managed to pull it off. It's not automatic. Look at how badly DC failed with Justice League. They had Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman to work with and they were shown up by characters that included a talking raccoon and Thor and an archer with no super powers.

Wonder Women still grossed over 820,000. Tenth in 2017. I really liked wonder women. The other Dc movies were just ok. Aquaman just did 1.1 billion. I guess Marvel has better writers.

Aquaman did $1.1B?!?! I didn't even see it!



But yeah. It's entirely the writing.



I agree Wonder Woman was good (equivalent to the first Captain America) and the other DC movies were probably on the level of Guardians of the Galaxy 2. You can also tell DC truncated their plans, which must have included possible Flash and Cyborg movies at some point.

ahh...I just googled it and an article came up talking about the 22 movies and which order you should watch them in for the correct "timeline"

There was scene where Gal Godot showed her boobs, but they cut it out.

Too bad.
