Bad political siblings

It's not a BRIGHT LINE. It's an eraser. And the void is being filled by the "religion" of humanism and secularism. It's like-minded people asserting their particular beliefs of their particular faction. It's a defacto result of suppressing those of another. The display of the 10 commandments in a court house does not nullify other beliefs, but the removal of them does.

it's our government... neither of us gets to put his religious monuments on public property. what about your beliefs is nullified by that?

and never mind that fact that across the country, court houses, city halls, public parks, etc. have violations of that policy by your people, and it's simply a matter of atheists, muslims, buddhists, jews, etc. haven't had a chance to complain, or don't locally have the resources to file a lawsuit to enforce the US Constitution. And "In [the Christian] God we trust" is on our money... and other places. No have no grounds to complain really.

What?

The 10 Commandments being displayed in a courthouse alone, gives the impression to those of other or no faiths, such as Atheism, Baha'i, Buddhism, Confucianism, Hinduism, Islam, Jainism, Shinto, Sikhism, Taoism, and Zoroastrianism, that the US judicial system is biased and not secular.

Nothing related to any one or a few beliefs should be given preference over any other in government, and especially in courts. Any or all. That is why the local chapter of the Santanic Temple in Detroit made an attempt to place their statue of Baphomet next to the 10 ton 10 Commandments monolith in Oklahoma City's Capital.

History shows that faith in God was in the warp and woof of American Society and Government until circa 1910. Then began the slow and steady extraction of God from both.

Yeah, and it was so great back then, violating treaties left and right with Native American tribes to massacre them and steal their resources, a white Protestant majority freely discriminating against just about everyone else who wasn't, and of course, SLAVERY codified and protected by law up until the 1860's...

The roots of Democracy go back to ancient Greece, who most certainly did not worship the Judeo-Christian God.

The Plebians and Patricians of ancient Rome were similar in scope and purpose, to our present-day Congress.

There is wheat and chaff in every culture and in every generation. The blame is mis-assigned. And SLAVERY was the pet-project of the Democratic party, followed closely on the heels of Jim Crow and the resistance of Civil Rights legislation, right up to in my own lifetime. Democrats drove that resistance for 195 years. I do not blame religion for that misjudgment.

And things are so great now "without" religion? Look around you.

You have a penchant, also observed by others, to go off on tangents that are puzzling to the topic at hand.

And we were not designed to ever be a democracy.

If you do believe in Hell and Purgatory, I hope you are actually not this cavalier about your ultimate destination.

Sorry but none of us really knows what happens when we lay down for the dirt nap... Many good people have died because of religions for me to believe there is a higher power who really does give a shit.. this is all religions not just yours byco.

Only one of them promises eternal life in a body that never again feels suffering. Can't blame the religion for the poor actions of people. Everyone dies; good and bad.

God asked His own Son to nail Himself to a tree--why should we expect anything better as a manner of death? The difference is that death is no more as a result of this. The litany of martyrs (which is growing even now) demonstrates that there is indeed a Heaven and this planet is a transitional place for all of us.

When I was still a child, Mass was said only in Latin, and the Blessed Virgin Mary was the primary go-to for hope & prayer. St. Jude was the last resort. My late mother had two bottles of holy water and oil from Lourdes, where St. Bernadette was said to have seen and heard her several times, and is where many miracles allegedly occurred. She doesn't seem to hold the same degree of importance with other Christian faiths.

Why Jesus is depicted in artwork, statues and nailed to the Crucifix as having Anglo-Saxon facial features. eye color, hair, and skin tone is curious. Same with the Virgin Mary, and both likely spoke Aramaic, not Latin.

The "topic @ hand" has long veered off from the OP.

I didn't post that the US IS a Democracy, but it does have ties to its Grecian origins.

I go to Latin Mass, and I am in the process of a Marian Consecration. The Marian apparitions are documented and numerous. They are my inspiration.

Latin became and is the official language of the church, I speculate, after 313. That we depict Our Blessed Lord and His Mother other than what they likely looked in real life is somewhat expected, but there are also images and likenesses that are derived from actual descriptions of their appearances to various saints.

The Divine Mercy Image of Jesus is such a depiction, given that he appeared to Sister Faustina and requested that an artist paint Him as He appeared to her.

I concede that point.

EDIT: LBJ had a brother named Sam Houston Johnson. I bet he was a major goofball.

I like our system. No religion is in charge of our government, but the separation of church and state can be relaxed from the most strict interpretations right up to the point that it bothers somebody. Then there are mechanisms to reel it back if it crosses that line.

The degree to which we're tolerant of violations (like monuments) reflects society.

Can't Blame religious for poor action of people is just flat out bunk and in my opinion. 'Everyone dies' To act like religion has not played apart in innocence peoples deaths since the dawn of man is pretty callous.Religion is just business. Big Business cash cow for some..Nothing more nothing less.

Hopefully for his sake, the late Edward Kennedy was wearing his Brown Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. I don't believe in such protection from eternal damnation, but if he was a practicing and faithful RC, it could help his heavenly cause, if it was long worn, he enrolled in the Brown Scapular Confraternity, and it was used properly. (praying/saying a blessed Holy Rosary each and every day, for example..)

I said "the religion," perhaps too vaguely indicating Catholicism. As long as people are involved in something, no matter how noble or good it is, it's going to always be imperfect to some degree.

If you want to accuse religion of being complicit in the deaths of innocents, I hope you also put government, medicine and business under the same microscope.
