Bill O'Reilly also lied about being in combat, but since he's only on Fox News...

I still can't believe anyone watches him after that comment about the tides, where everyone who ever had 4th grade science was screaming "Lunar Gravity" at their television set.

In before Red can start to argue that "you're wrong," and let that resonate so as to imply "you're wrong & therefore my Christian god exists" instead of accurately stating "You're wrong... because tides are the rise and fall of sea levels caused by the combined effects of gravitational forces exerted by the Moon, AND the Sun, and rotation of the Earth."

Right. Sounds just like me.

Well, at least we agree they don't run on communism.

Did you see China is making $3.6 B available to Ukraine for oil&gas infrastructure project loans?

Aw cripes, you're going to deny it now?

Uh, no, but whatever. hard to know what the practical result will be. the previous president agreed to long-term leases on Ukrainian farmland for China in exchange for a lot of money, but I'm not sure whatever became of that.

I'm sure Ukrainian oil & gas infrastructure isn't great, but that's hardly the most important thing they need to worry about now, especially since a large chunk of their energy business is in the hands of Russian separatists.

Also: Don't derail my thread to talk about Ukraine, bump the other one.

I still don't know what Brian Williams said. Anchormen are just talking hairpieces right?

Bill OReilly hosted A Current Affair, for crying out loud. Who has ever considered him a Journalist, anyways?

LOL - if it weren't for Jon Stewart, Keith Olbermann, Stephen Colbert and now Mother Jones, Bill O wouldn't have anything to talk about!

I might have tuned into O'Reilly from time to time up until about ten years ago, but it got old.

He had a couple shows with Howard Stern as his guest; those were pretty good.

Howard Stern got kinda old too; I guess he does prime time TV now.

Does Stern still have his subscription radio show in the mornings?

From time to time I would hear O'Reilly talk about this dangerous encounter or that dangerous encounter he had in his days as a field reporter; they did kinda sound like bullshit to me.

NBC Nightly News always led in with the claim of being one of the the most trusted and watched evening news broadcasts. Williams' being exposed for embellishing several incidents that he allegedly experienced while on assignment during the Iraq invasion, Katrina, and being @ the Brandenburg Gate when the Berlin Wall came down. That put more than just egg on NBC's face...it was a whole panful of uncooked omelette...haha!!

We are looong past the days of the late Walter Cronkite and Huntley-Brinkley, and it seems pretty fucking foolish to make claims that can be made viral & so easily and quickly discovered & refuted nowadaze.

Didn't Brinkley get credited by the United States Army for offing a bunch of Krauts when he was over there as a war correspondent during World War II?

Or was that Huntley?

No, no, no, it was Frank McGee. Or Hugh Downs. I forget.

The MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour was easily the best and the only one I ever watched regularly. The prime time network stuff has always been crap. After MacNeil retired I continued to watch the PBS NewsHour for awhile but even that has gone down hill since they made the clearly biased Gwen Ifill co-anchor and co-managing editor. My wife still likes it and I can stomach most of it sometimes but I usually leave the room or pick up the iPad when Shields and Brooks come on.

that guy's story was included in the retarded Mel Gibson vietnam war vehicle "we were soldiers once..."

I looked at two articles and skimmed some headlines thinking to myself I should try to figure out what this is all about, but the interpretation of whatever there is on tapes seems to align with my impression of how the source would feel about O'Reily. Is this going to be a court of public opinion thing without any real facts? Is it worth digging any more?

Maybe someone will find that "cameraman bleeding from the ear" to back up or refute his story.

I guess what matters is whether or not protesters were killed where he was.

some CBS staffers have come forward to refute O'Reilly's claims. I'm sure they'll be subject to the same hot air, personal attacks he aimed at Mother Jones, instead of providing anything of substance to support his claims.

I couldn't find a link to the article on Breitbart.com, so I'm not sure if we can trust it though...
