What we wouldn't give for a LF like Bobby Veach on our current Tigers team... Excellent all around hitter and fielder.
I remember the old timer on one of the routes I delivered mail to back in the early 70's as a PTF in the PO. Parkie R. was in his mid 80's back then, and I would run a route and go sit with him and talk old time baseball.
I always asked him about the Tigers from Cobb's era and the 1930's teams. He used to see every AL team play the redsox at fenway since he was a kid. He called Bobby Veach a poor man's Al Simmons, great all around Left fielder just not as accomplished.
