The dustup began Wednesday, as Romney, who ran the 2002 Salt Lake City games, said there were "disconcerting" signs in the days before this year's games.
"The stories about the private security firm not having enough people, the supposed strike of the immigration and customs officials -- that obviously is not something which is encouraging," he told NBC News.
"Do they come together and celebrate the Olympic moment? And that's something which we only find out once the games actually begin," he said.
Cameron soon rebuked Romney. "We are holding an Olympic Games in one of the busiest, most active, bustling cities anywhere in the world. Of course, it's easier if you hold an Olympic Games in the middle of nowhere," he said.

:lmao: nice shot at Mitts Salt Lake games

That's rich.

I'm sure that the Brits included their uncertainty of being able to control circumstances to the extreme "in one of the busiest, most active, bustling cities anywhere in the world" when they pitched to the IIOC why they were especially suited and qualified to host the 2012 Olympics.

Excuses and comparisons are the weakest form of justifying inadequacies.

I don't think that Atlanta included a bombing in their Olympic itinerary either.

Phelps/100m, 200m, 400m/Hot Athletes.

I used to like watching skiing and bobsled and hockey and shit. Now I just find it boring. Skip around too much, shits not live and freakin' Bob Costas.

True on all accounts, especially Bob Costas. His Sunday Night Football "Video Essays" are hilariously bad though.

Anyone still watch the Olympics?

Swimming/Diving, Beach Vollyball, track and field.

Sad that some of the events I would love to see are never televised: Archery, marksmanship, Judo, weight lifting.

Guys, we have a miscellaneous sports board for posts of the more recent nature contained in this thread.

Let's please limit the posts on this board to the usual partisan bickering, thank you very much.

Romney is a goofball for saying anything critical or controversial at all.

Londoners are justified to believe, and rightfully so, that they are more than equally qualified in their ability to control extreme circumstances as places such as Athens, Rio, Atlanta, Beijing and Munich - these are the types of venues where the Summer Olympics are held.

The sprawling and uncertain metropolises of Turin, Nagano, Lilliehammer, Albertville and Salt Lake City - these are the types of venues where the Winter Olympics are held.

And Romney is also a goofball not to acknowledge that there is a difference.

I'm not going to vote for either of these two jerks, Obama or Romney, but Romney did nothing to help himself over there, and ya wonder how Romney actually got as far as he got being such a bonehead as he is.

ahhh all is well , Etch and Sketch walked the comment back.

After getting rebuked by Prime Minister David Cameron and London Mayor Boris Johnson and getting savaged by the British press for questioning London's readiness for the Olympics, GOP presumptive nominee Mitt Romney thinks the city is ready for the games.
"After being here a couple days, it looks to me like London is ready," Romney said on NBC's "Today." "And of course, it is hard to put on the games in a major metropolitan area. What they have done that I find so impressive is they took the venues and put them right in the city. You’re going to be on the back side of 10 Downing Street for beach volleyball

And I wonder the very same about Obama. But we know one thing "(he) didn't do that." Ironically, in his case that's an accurate statement.

Yeah, even so, money should be able to buy only so much.

so much is enough. you're better off being born into a wealthy & connected family in America than you are being born intelligent & poor, or from a family of modest means.

although, it would be nice to see Obama - who did not come from a wealthy, politically powerful family - still be able to beat Romney, who had everything handed to him on a silver platter from day 1.

And right to wonder, indeed; a combination of charasma, innovation in the use of new media to raise awareness and money and a convection of "outrageous fortune" catapulted Obama into where he is.

It certainly wasn't because of anything he had done, because except for making one real good speech and beating one real weak Republican opponent to be elected to the United States Senate, Obama hadn't done anything.

Sure, he came from humble beginnings got himself a good education and made the most of the hand that was dealt him, credit him for that, but that doesn't mean he was ready to be president at the time he was elected.

Fellow Georgians Newt Gingrich and Jimmy Carter probably don't agree often, but one thing they agree on is this - policy wise, there isn't much difference between Obama and Romney.

That's pretty much how I see it too.

I'm not going to vote for either, but since I'm gonna be stuck with one of them, I'd probably rather be stuck with the one I've gotten used to.
