Brother Rice football coach - coming back for 44th

**** Brother Rice.

that's not very nice.

would you like to tell me why you feel that way?

Bro Rice is the "University of Michigan" of state high schools... storied football program, great athletics, great academics, upstanding alumni, lots of money... I would think you would like it, or at least aspire to be more like us.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go look in the mirror and admire myself.

You take great pride in where daddy sent you to high school. Congrats?

No real problem with Rice except that my kids went to U of D Jesuit. By choice.

My daddy didn't send me there. My mom wanted me to go to U of D. My dad said I could go wherever I wanted. I chose BR. I got a partial scholarship to go there too (because I was so smart) making it more affordable.

You seem upset today.

Did you get up on the wrong side of the bed this morning?

to each his own. I visited both places, and felt that UD was kinda pretentious and overbearing, but I understand other people felt the opposite.

see... normally KAWDUP and I never agree on anything... but high school is the one thing we have in common and he's not here.

Actually, its a quite humble and accommodating environment.

Finals week. And I still have three (!) to go. Two tomorrow, as a matter of fact. Fudge.

I wouldn't worry too much, since I'm sure you have adequately prepared.

I knew one Jewish kid who went to Brother Rice in my time. Kinda random.

They obviously weren't a very religious family. We were friends with his older sister, and her dad met us and thought we were such great guys he said "I'm going to send young Mark there next year."

We were like, "Uh, dude, you know it's a catholic school, right?"

and he was like, "Eh... whatever."

Listen....as a Bishop Foley standout athlete....I was able to separate my disdain / jealousy of Brother Rice from the respect I had, and still have for the school and it's athletic program.

We got schooled in most sports against them, overall from 80-83....yet held our own in hoops...thanks to a Polish kid from Hamtramck with sharp elbows and a wicked baseline jumper ;)

And at 46....I enjoy the men I meet that went there, opposed to the Dearborn Divine Child tools I encounter.

Yeah sorry MC - work extremely busy these days. Yes that is something we have in common. It is a very good school both academically and in sports.
