PISTONS TO RETIRE JERSEYS OF BILLUPS, WALLACE

Chauncey Billups (No. 1) and Ben Wallace (No. 3) will have their numbers retired at two separate game-night ceremonies later this season, according to the Detroit Free Press. Both numbers are currently being used by players on the roster (Reggie Jackson wears 1, Stanley Johnson wears 3).

Didn't one happen the last game I forget?

They could make that pretty special for the young guys by having Jackson/Johnson swap jerseys with Billups/Wallace during the ceremony to get their new numbers. A changing of the guard kind of feel.

wow. The Pistons are pretty liberal with retiring jerseys. The Tigers haven't even retired Tram & Lou's jerseys!

I'm not in favor of this at all. Each guy was only with the team for six years. Wallace's stats really aren't that tremendous. I want to see a much longer stay with multiple championships.

I'm with you 100%. I wouldn't even consider retiring Chauncey's jersey either. 16.5 points & 6.2 assists per game while shooting only 42% from the field. Nothing special!

well, they did win a Championship, come within a game of a repeat, and go to six straight ECFs. the franchise could use a pick me up.

I agree, and the best way to do that is winning on the court. Retiring a jersey or two doesn't suddenly win you games.

I just think this process needs to be held in a much higher regard. They were great parts of the run, but they were only in a Piston uniform for six seasons.

I think every team that John Sally ever rode the pines for to a ring should retire his jersey.

I hope that included the Miami PD.
