Cameron Maybin Traded to the Tigers

Update on Tigers outfielder Cameron Maybin, who was HBP again, this time in game with Triple-A during his rehab assignment for broken left wrist sustained in spring training: Told he was hit in the same general area but X-rays came back negative. Experiencing some mild soreness but is believed to be okay. Will receive day off today as a precaution and is expected to return to lineup for Toledo tomorrow.

tigermud was talking about using someone against lefties

Okay. But still if one guy isn't hitting lefties and he hasn't his entire career maybe someone else will. Since we don't have a rightly counterpart couldn't hurt to use Collins.

Or at least get someone else.

Edit: Of course this should have been fixed when Maybin got hurt in the first place. Can't go into a season with Gose as FT player.

I saw 'Cameron Maybin traded to the..." as the subject. Thought maybe it was a new thread, I got excited.

If McCann bats against even one RH starter I'm going to write a very strong letter to Ausmus.

Cameron Maybin will join the Tigers on Monday. Corresponding move coming later.

Tigers activate Cameron Maybin, option Anthony Gose to Triple-A Toledo.

I actually didn't think Gose would go down. Nonetheless, either or - both bad.

Toronto still cannot believe they got an All Star caliber 2B for Gose.

moving forward their seems to be a log jam in the outfield, Upton, JD, Collins, Goose, Maybin, Moya isn't room for everyone, trades likely being explored at least for bird flipper if I had to guess.

Collins, Gose, Maybin and Moya do not have anything more than AAAA talent. Collins, Gose and Moya at least can hit RHP. Maybin cannot. Maybin is also probably the least defensive. And yet, they hope Maybin replaces Upton in CF.

Gose's overall offensive numbers this year includes his 3 for 25 .120 BAVG against LHP. His .730 OPS against RHP, based on a small sample, is serviceable for what he is. Gose should have never seen a start against a LHP, just like McCann shouldn't see a start against a RHP. And if Moya starts seeing ABs against LHP, he also will see his numbers decline. Plus, sooner or later, Moya will have to make adjustments. Opponents will start to exploit the holes in his swing.

looks like Maybin is on his way to a career year
