Capital 1 Bowl Mania

Sorry to burst your bubble, Tinsel, but mine shows me in first place. It probably changes depending on who is viewing it.

Yeah, I was wondering if that might be the case.

So three others are showing themselves as ranked #1, one might surmise.

I think 6 of us are tied, so 4 others.

Then b311j is in last place or 2nd place, depending on your perspective.

It would be 7th place-but only one point behind.

He could potentially jump us all into first place in just two games.

so we have the Bad Boy Mowers Garsparilla Bowl today. Oh boy!!

UCF vs The Marshall Thundering Turd at 2:30pm

ugh!

Damn.

I guess Gasparilla is a festival celebrating piracy and slaughter that is part of the history of the West Coast of Florida.

Definitely more appropo event for a red neck operation like Bad Boy Motors to sponsor than that spectacular hoops tournament our b ball guys just won in the Bahamas.

Apparently buccaneers were quasi-pirates against Spanish vessels in the region whose plunder was approved of, to a degree, by the British and French who were competing with Spain for the bounty of the region.

Imagine what those Buccaneers could have done if they had had Bad Boy Mower lawn mowers to hack up the Spanish with.

A short history of the Buccaneers.

It would also seem that The Buccaneers and the historic Pirates of the Caribbean were either the same thing or there was a lot of crossover, at least.

Yes, a lot of pirates or buccaneers of that time were sponsored by one crown or another.

If they were sponsored by an actual government, they'd be privateers, not buccaneers. And they operated under what was called a "letter of marque" issued by that government. but they were only authorized to raid during wartime.

so if, say, they were operating under an English letter of marque, and England was at war with Spain, they could capture Spanish ships. but if England and Spain made peace and they kept fucking with the Spanish, they'd be guilty of piracy.

I learned that from a video game.

There might be a difference between what they called themselves and what their victims called them.

A lot of privateers probably participated in piracy on the side.

The first thing I linked to, as I recall, said the Spanish just called them Pirates.

"We've got a ball game"

Boy! These commentators are trying very hard to keep people interested in this

BYU fucked me last night. My picks started to pick up steam and then, boom, Shitty Shatake, the BYU head coach, calls a stupid fucking play on 3rd and 2 that could have ended the game, but instead stops the clock with 2min left. Hawaii scores in 3 plays and then game over. The dude is a shit bag of a coach.

Oh Yeah, Merry Christmas!!!!

That LaTech vs Miami Fla game was torture

Miami is a one giant flaming bag of shit. Lost 14-0

I would not want to be an already signed recruit at Miami. "What in the the fuck did I just do?" Would be my thought process over the next few months and then I would abruptly hit the transfer portal.

Sparty driving

I picked the Spartans. Looking at the bowl standings for our group, I might still be in this. A million bucks to the winner, right?
