The Trump administration is taking aim at a law designed to protect military service members from getting cheated by shady lending practices.

NPR has obtained documents that show the White House is proposing changes that critics say would leave service members vulnerable to getting ripped off when they buy cars. Separately, the administration is taking broader steps to roll back enforcement of the Military Lending Act.

What good is "supporting the troops" if you can't make a couple extra bucks hitting them with hidden fees and surcharges?

The thread title would actually be a good name for a country Western song.

My good friend Barbie Niven is on this TV show Chesapeake Shores with country music star Jesse Metcalfe. Maybe I’ll pass the idea along.

Shouldn't everyone be protected By laws from these bankster types ? Slash and burn regulations as long as the rich get richer and everyone else gets fucked. Same old same old from the republicans. They will fuck things up and the next administration will have to pick up the pieces, and it looks like this administration is going to leave a lot of pieces to fix.

None of this is really surprising; everyone in this administration made their money as a swindler, or married into a swindler family or was born into one: all the Trumps, DeVos, Mnuchin, Ross, Chao, etc.

why should some dopes be protected from scams just because they are in the military?

exactly, if you're going to write a regulation to prevent predatory pricing, why should it only apply to one class or group of people? So why does this article only focus on the military? Why aren't they whining and complaining that this regulation should be extended to protect everyone? Probably not because the writer is pro military. It's much more likely they're an MC with a bigger audience spending every waking moment to find and publish something they don't like about Trump and spin it into something much bigger than it is to demonstrate how evil his administration is.

If you want to regulate this, put a cap on the markup that applies to all buyers.

You missed the point: It's just a little ironic that the President who's been ranting that football players kneeling disrespects our veterans, would then turn around and gut regulations intended to protect them from financial fraud.

Surely you can understand that now, no?

no, I didn't miss the point and it's not ironic. You can support repealing a protection that's only available to a certain group of people and still be in favor of respecting that group of people.

...

Sure you CAN do that, it's just... ironic.

How is that ironic exactly?

It?s ironic because as bad as the title of this thread is to be the title of a thread, it?s possibly the greatest title fot a country Westen music song in the history of titles for country Westen music songs.

that might be ironic but there's a country song titled "You're The Reason Our Kids Are Ugly" so at best, it's possibly the second greatest title for a country western music song in the history of titles for country western music songs.

sounds like the manufacturing folks who thought voting Trump would bring back their automated job ....or the farmers who voted to MAGA, but who now have their livelihood threatened by Putin-ordered trade tariffs and sanctions ....or the ignorant, angry white guy who voted for Trump out of spite, and who now is suffering the consequences of his 'policies.'

hard to feel sorry for people sometimes.

Yes but the important question, how is the stock market doing?

But think of all the aborted babies Trump has saved.
