Oklahoma and Nebraska have petitioned the US Supreme Court to strike down Colorado's legalization of marijuana:
"Nebraska and Oklahoma filed the lawsuit directly with the nation's highest court on Thursday. The two states argue in the lawsuit that, 'the State of Colorado has created a dangerous gap in the federal drug control system.'

"Marijuana flows from this gap into neighboring states, undermining Plaintiff States' own marijuana bans, draining their treasuries, and placing stress on their criminal justice systems," the lawsuit alleges."
No surprise the demands the federal government respect "States Rights" are just more GOP hypocrisy. as soon as a state does something they don't like, voted on by its own citizens, they want the Federal government to intervene... nice.

I agree, if Nebraska and Oklahoma have a problem they should invade Colorado - after I buy more LMT stock.

You hear stories about how much weed is dumped at the airport rental car facilities and cops in neighboring states like Kansas setting up right on the border to bust cars coming from Colorado.

I see a TON of out of state plates on cars parked at the two dispensaries by my house and have had friends ask me to Ship them MJ. No way. And that's another supposed issue; FedEx and UPS being used instead of the USPS to ship edibles, etc.

I'm sure nobody in either Oklahoma or Nebraska had ever even heard of weed, let alone smoked it, until it was legalized in Colorado.

Plus, Colorado, along with California, Michigan and a whole bunch of other places - has been in violation of federal marijuana laws for years by making it legal through prescription for medicinal purposes - did no weed ever get into Nebraska or Oklahoma when that was the status?

Sounds like a good aurgement to just change the federal law on it all to me

"The State of Colorado has created a dangerous gap in the federal drug control system," the lawsuit ? which Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning and Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt filed Thursday ? alleges. "Marijuana flows from this gap into neighboring states, undermining [our states'] own marijuana bans."

So which is it?

How can they simultaneously claim their own marijuana bans are relevant, but the un-ban in Colorado is irrelevant, while state laws are superseded by federal law in this instance?

I agree - time for the federal government to take MJ off the list, and let the individual states decide.

Seems to me more like how 'blue' states and counties don't allow alcohol but neighboring areas do (whether a time restriction or other type). Feds don't stop those neighbors, shouldn't get involved here either. While I'm not a proponent, I just don't see the fed having justification for this, unless it was like 47 states against and 3 for it, and arguing the 3 have massive negative impact on the other 47...but that isn't the case here.

Plus, aren't these neighbor states able to generate income via fines and other means when busting someone in this situation?

Ah, this whole fucking thing has gone to pot. ;P

If you have a non-CO ID you can only buy so much. If hippies from Dallas want to try and drive their weed back to Texas, they'd better not get pulled over.

It's always been that way with road trips and weed.

Pot Reformers Critique Lawsuit by Nebraska, Oklahoma
Executive action might derail the states' attempt to kill legalization in Colorado.

"I guess that ought to tell them they should stop arresting people," Cohen says. "I suspect they are arresting a lot of people for 1 ounce or 2 ounces or a couple of candy bars or a couple of brownies, and if they're putting those people in jail they ought to have their heads examined."

Hopefully 25-75 years from now it will be legalized in all 50 states... Tax the hell out of it and make some money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

people in CO love to be all like, "OH, I hate these stupid TOURISTS!" ... even though some not insignificant portion of their state economy is tourism, paying for their roads, parks, infrastructure, schools, etc. and they love having all those things.

I know of at least one Nebraska state trooper from the early 90s who knew what weed is.

No different than the FIPS and FUDGIES in Michigan.

But it's so true. Go by the dispensaries near our place in the mtns and every license plate is TX, KS, NE or somewhere.

Not sure about the burger sales

in WI they call vacationing Chicago suburbanites around Lake Geneva & similar places "FIBS" aka "Fuckin' Illinois Bastards."

With the exception of maybe No Soliciting signs, isn't pretty much 90% of everything purchased on those mountain towns purchased by tourists?

In the rest of New England tourists from Massachusetts are Massholes - although it's probably unfair to a lot of the state as it's probably due to all the whiny pricks from Boston.
