Climate Change Is Amazing.

I'll let you know when I see the moisture supplying that rain stop flowing over my head up from the Gulf of Mexico... been going non-stop for a couple weeks now. It doesn't fall around here... just been hot (low 90's), humid, and cloudy.

Of course earlier this month we had plenty of rain ourselves... Had so much at once during the evening commute a few tuesdays ago that I got stranded less than a mile from my house, and had to (somewhat ironically) spend the night in a church, with dozens of other people.

Short of wading through waist deep floodwater (not doing that given the snakes, alligators, and risk of electrocution) it was physically impossible for me to get home.

Fortunately, I had the foresight to park the Champmobile up on an elevated median where it stayed dry, rather than trying to drive through a foot or more of floodwater, like lots of idiots here did. Dozens of cars, maybe even over 100 - many totalled - were all over the place the next day. took the city all day to clear them.

still too deep to make it home until after 730 AM the next morning. brutal night. "100 year" rainfalls take place every 2 years now.

took until the next evening for all the ponding on teh roads to drain

That sucks!

You must have thanked God you had a church to stay in ;)

You should post this on the religion board. Maybe start a "Christians help Atheist" thread???

I guess... but sleeping on a pew for brief periods of time while dozens of people snored around me sucked.

At around 5:30 AM I gave up and tried to see if I could make it home on foot (water was still too deep), and so went and slept in my car til 7.

Also, for the record, wading through floodwater SUCKS. The church was ~100 yards from my car, and most of the water between there was knee or thigh deep. I hope I never have to do that again.

Societal collapse is far more likely to be the result of lax immigration policy, open borders and rampant migration than climate change. And they are so easy to fix. Imagine that.

dude, you realize mass migration is BECAUSE of climate change, right?

That plus all the illegal aliens coming north to pick strawberries and clean toilets.

what strawberries? didn't you hear nothing is getting planted and it's predicted that trend will continue - and climate alarmists predictions, particularly consensus predictions are almost always right.

The oceans are warmer + warmer temperatures = more evaporation. from my perch here, I've watched tons of clouds streaming north from the Gulf of Mexico. They hit the cooler air from the jet stream over Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, and pts further north and dump buckets of rain, spin up into tornadoes, etc.

Keep burnin' them fossil fuels boys! Pump more CO2 into the air, and the results are only logical at this point (Unless you don't believe in the basic laws of physics or chemistry)

simple, just build the wall big enough to keep out the clouds too - 2 birds, 1 stone(wall).

You remember that Dennis Quaid movie-a disaster movie with Emmy Rossum?

In that movie, it was us that ended up migrating south of the border because of climate change.

Name of the movie was the day before the day after tomorrow or something like that.

I remember that movie. I wish I didn't. It was terrible.

Never saw that one but for some reason this post reminded me of Escape From New York which starred Kurt Russell and not Dennis Quaid. Anyone who doubts the effectiveness of walls should watch that movie. Although, I guess in the end, he escapes but he's just one of millions. How many Snake Pliskins can there be in the world? Then how many of those would also happen to be in Mexico or Central America? They definitely shouldn't watch Big Trouble in Little China because in that movie, he drives a truck right through a brick wall.

So they say. I believe next to nothing that comes out of their mouths, however. How ?bout you?

We already had this discussion.

We decided to wall off both coasts, which are mostly inhabited by libs, when the sea levels rise, they?ll all be washed away.

A Lot of these movies are liberal and or ChiCom Hollywood propaganda.

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/11/18/world/asia/china-movies.html

A number of actors, musicians and other celebrities have been barred from entering the country over behavior deemed inappropriate or critical of the Chinese Communist Party.

Here?s why some of them were barred from China:
Miley Cyrus
Pulling ?slant eyes? while posing for a photo.

Justin Bieber
?Bad behavior,? according to the Chinese authorities.

Katy Perry
Wearing a sunflower dress, a pro-democracy symbol, at a performance in Taiwan.

Jon Bon Jovi
Using an image of the Dalai Lama during a concert.

I think most people have an intuitive read on risk where we weigh both the probability of a thing happening and how bad it would be. But that doesn't seem to hold for climate change. If you bring up the scale of the possible risks, it's called alarmism. If you point towards the observations that have been made already, people argue that it's not a certain enough indicator. But it's the combination of probability and cost. Ignoring this is reckless.

And I agree with the Pope's read that this is a problem largely caused by the wealthy, that will inflict the most pain on the poor.

It's one thing to take a risk when it's your own well being on the line, but knowingly taking a risk at others' expense is the kind of thing that leads to real regret. And nobody should feel any reasonable amount of certainty that there's no danger here.
