Thanks Mitch, updated. A lot of HC jobs out there.

Get StartedArguably the best job off the market. Chuck Pagano gets a one year extension with the Colts.

Luck, weak division.
He is one the best coaches period. Colts knew that all along.I'd argue possibly the best of the coaches that were on the hot seat as well.
This still makes me laugh though..
I'll take "Things that happen when you run a trick play with a backup center who'd never ran it before" Alex.
Matt Patricia DC of the Pats heating up as a candidate. Dolphins and Browns throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks. I've been updating all the coaches linked to each team on page 1 of this thread BTW.
If there's 1 thing Belichick isn't good at. ...its grooming his coordinators to become good nfl head coaches. They've all sucked. His coaching tree is pathedic.
You can't really say they all sucked when guys like Nick Saban and Bill O'Brien are part of that tree. However, there have been some flops too.
And I think a lot of people forget that Bill himself was once run out of Cleveland for being what the fans at the time called "The worst coach in Browns history". Clearly that is no longer an accurate assessment, and I'm not even sure it was then.. but they hated his ass.
Often times, regardless of how well groomed you are, your first go at being a head coach is less than exciting. Pete Carroll absolutely sucked with the Jets and Patriots. He's an excellent coach with the Seahawks.
I think a lot of the time these assistants think "Man, all the things I would change if I were a head coach and make it all better" ... and then they get their chance and they do change it all. And they fail. And then they learn from that failure. They learn why some of those things were done that didn't make a lot of sense.
I feel like Josh McDaniels has himself in position to become a head coach again. If we land Quinn at GM, it could even be here. Jim Schwartz had only one winning season in 5 with the Lions, but I feel like he did enough in helping to rebuild the team that if he learns from his mistakes, he could be a very good head coach in his next go-round. Romeo Crennel is another guy who's finding his groove as a coordinator in Texas, learning from mistakes, and will get another crack at the head coaching gig somewhere some day.
Add that to Saban, Ferentz, and Groh (who was in both Belichick's and Parcell's tree) and you have a much better coaching tree than many might think with his only real wipe outs being Charlie Weis and Eric Mangini, who wasn't horrific with the Jets, and the Browns... well.... what can you say? Any coach that coaches the Browns may have doomed their own career from jump.
Cleveland is my prediction.Coughlin open to another coaching position if offered.
