Compairing Kinsler with Infante

You sound like LKP now.

That doesn't sound like him at all..I would think Monster meant is you can't say anyone is good because the stats say he isn't..what's wrong with going with what you see..with your eyes.

The reason baseball is less fun now compared to 20 years ago = stat geeks that only look at black and white numbers. There's more to baseball than stats, just like any other sport, but for some reason that's what it's become.

A-fucking-men!

There's a place for it, but some make it out to be EVERYTHING

Not at all. Stats are important, but some people treat them like they tell the whole story. You ask about a player and you get a flood of stats that are hard to understand. It just sucks the life out of the game.

Well, look at rajai davis and jd martinez. Their previous stats say they would add little to this team. I'd say they're very important pieces now. Juan Gonzalez should have been great with us but nobody took account of other issues with him. Fielder was the same way. He underperformed, refused to get in shape, and let personal issues creep onto the diamond.

I agree..

Most sabermetric stats have flaws anyway. I get tired of "he won't keep it up based on numbers and career". So we should assume, for example, JD will fall like Berry did or someone else..and even if he does what's wrong with cheering the guy on without getting stats in your face.

But, Dude, Martinez has a .0781 okpsa index factor with just a 1.889 gps on wednesdays on the road in August. In other words, it will end soon.

Here's a stat that I plan on seeing during tonight's game. I should have a .20 BAC by the 5th inning.

I still can hardly believe J.D. Martinez came out of nowhere. Talk about luck, that guy was waiver wire cannon fodder.

Even when he tails off, the timing of when he started hitting like Carlos Gonzalez helped save our season. The team was so down in the dumps.

Same can be said for Quinten Berry a couple of years ago.

Let's hope he can last a little bit longer than Berry did.... Kid is looking good even in loses these days...

I consider myself a baseball purist and I still go by what I see in a player versus the stats. However, I am open minded towards them because they add a lot to the game. Thank God for google search when I need some clarification on the meaning of a stat. I respect people that post from fact (stats) rather than personal opinion. I can't stand when people piece meal stats or twist them around to ignore the obvious. So with that said, my purist way would agree that Kinsler and Infante were a push these past few years. My purist way also tells me Kinsler needed a change of scenery because he is playing way better than he did the past couple of years. In case your wondering, I have watched a lot of Rangers games because I love the way Ron Washington manages. I like the way Gibby manages too but man his players are playing real bad this year. Sometimes I wonder if Ausmus is managing or is it Gene Lamont?
