Crazy Trade Idea Thread

Look at it from a the team's POV. You are trading a player that most think could be the best player in baseball for the next 10 years and you have him on the cheap for the next 4-5 years. That's the side of it that I am coming from. Right now Trout is the better player....we just don't know if he will continue to be this guy.

So that's all that matters? No one in their right mind would trade a 1st year ballot hall of fame player that's still in his 20's for a rookie.

I don't give a shit about his SB's. And we all know Miggy isn't the best defender out there but that doesn't make Trout a better ballplayer.

Similar hitter? Trout is killing it right now, but Miguel is better at hitting for power and does everything else better or close to Trout.

All I said is tight now (as in this year) trout has been better than Miggy. I know that it isn't a popular opinion on this board. They are very close this year but as of now Trout has had the better year IMO.

yes...but the idea for my trade proposal was that the Tigers would get Trout and have the $20 M a year to add another player or players. This thread is called "crazy trade thread". Neither team would do it....the Tigers wouldn't give up a sure thing and the Angels wouldn't give up a player that might be the best player in MLB for the next 10 years while only paying him peanuts.

Dude, 20m doesn't mean jack to MI and the Tigers. If it did they wouldn't have such a high payroll. If they want Hamilton, they'll go get him. They don't need to save money to do it.

How many stolen bases does Miguel have? How well does Miguel run the bases? Tag up and score from 3rd on a flyout? Cabrera plays Centerfield better,hum. But I would not make the trade as Trout could fall off the pace at any time, whereas Cabrera has shown he's here to stay. And that is the real deal for now! But no Cabrera is not a base runner. They are two different type of players. Leadoff vs a 3rd/4th power hitter. Right now Tigers need Cabrera more.

He wouldn't play CF here anyway. We already have a better CF in AJ. And speed is worthy but stolen bases are not. Figure out if his stolen bases helped him score and not ones where the next guy doubles or home runs and he scores anyway if he was still on first.

Miggy 2010 and 2011 blow Trout's 2012 away. And Miggy is starting to get back to that level. Miggy is the superior player, by far.

I don't trust pitchers....most get injured. There isn't a single player in MLB that I would trade for JV. A package deal.....it would have to be a lot!

And Trout is also being mentioned as a possible MVP. All I was saying (coming from a management point of view) I would trade Miggy for Trout leaving me $20M a year to add another superstar.
