Am I reading that right ? He only is going to serve a total of 10 years? Plus that probation language is a tad weird.

'As part of his interlocking state and federal plea bargain, Sharper will serve a total of 10 years in jail, reports the Times-Picayune. In his probation package, it's stated that Sharper must avoid all alcohol stores and bars for the rest of his life, cannot travel more than 50 miles from home without approval and could be subject to lie detector tests and penis arousal monitoring'.

I think that's just the ones involving the state of LA. I think he got 20 years in California and somewhere else. Running concurrently I believe so 20 years total since the California one is the longest. No idea about parole. Either way he got off easy.

It's often referred to as the "Peter Meter" and it's basically been debunked by every reputable source out there.

While I know I live in a state that has some serious "hick" tendancies, I was extremely shocked they are requiring PAM monitoring in Sharpers case, given that most of the time in Arizona even the prosecuting attorney's argue against it's use.

It's low reliability rating for identifying sex offenders often leads to defense attorney's asking for it to be used, do to the 50/50 chance it will identify a legit rapist as a non-offender.

It's really a shocker they even asked for it to be included in this deal, because it now legitimizes the results of the device in that districts courts.
