It is the albatross contracts he gave out that is cause payroll issues moving forward. While those contracts would be ignored when winning, as with DET, those contracts are going cause serious issues moving forward without value for that money.

He also completely ignored the bullpen in the off season and many pundits were critical of this, as that was the weakest part to BOS. BOS is last in the AL in SV% at 51.0%

Interesting that John Henry (if this is accurate) wanted to hire Billy Beane in 2002-ish because he managed to pay so little for the A's wins that year. So, then, he wins three WSs without Beane with payrolls ranked no lower than 3rd in MLB and then hires DD, who bumps the roll 30+MM in one season, wins another WS and then gets canned. Maybe I don't have all the information. Sox still have to honor the big contracts of Price, Evoldi, Sale and JD, whether DD is there or not. JH could simply say: No more big contracts and replenish the pipeline. Likely Betts will be a Yankee, Astro, Cub or Dodger next season. Maybe a National.

I'm sure he decimated their minor leagues but he got them a WS title just last year, seems a bit premature.

IIRC his first 2 trades were 4 going out 1 coming back in. He traded 4 guys for Kimbrel and 4 guys for Sale.

Similar to both Detroit and Miami. It should be no surprise what you'll get with DD.

Yahoo article all well and good, but was Henry out of reach in Antarctica when DD made these deals? Clearly not. Seems to me, as the principal owner, Henry is ultimately responsible for them.

Though Red Sox principal owner John Henry once said that signing pitchers in their 30s to long-term contracts didn't represent good business, he clearly thinks Sale -- who turns 30 next month -- is an exception.

"I think Chris falls out of the norm because he's just such a great [pitcher]," Henry said.

Principal owner John Henry is glad that David Price will remain with the Red Sox through 2022.

"...the fans here support this team and make it so we can afford a player like David Price whose talent came through."

3 division title, and a World Series ring. Wish he had done that in Detroit then I could forgive him for the mess he has left the Tigers in.

I bet the Angels sign him. That is my first place I think he will go.

Fuck Dave Dombrowski, he reminds me of Tom Monaghan, Jim Leyland and Sparky Anderson, someone who came along exactly at the right time and right place, to benefit from the Tigers, and then get or claim too much of the credit for their success.

His BPs, (except specialized SU and CL) benches, and UT players. who he termed as being "complementary" all too often weren't "all that".

Jim Leyland was a good coach where ever he was at. Remember 2008 we finished under .500 and 3 years later were in the WS. And Sparky really?

So I was at my part time job today for 3 hours and ran into this lady whose mother lives at the retirement village. She is tight with the red sox front office so much that she received a world series ring from last year.

What I said earlier is true about DD whooping it up with this Guerin Austin, a bleached blond who is in the stands during the games giving info, talking to fans, and players post game.

What I didn't know was that both DD and the red sox owner John Henry aka the straw man, got into a fight in one of the booths for front office, and DD was escorted out by 3 members of security!

"Hey DD, don't let the little head tell the big head what to do"!
