Numbers look poor on this one.. With how we are playing and we are
1-5-2 last 8 in Pittsburgh.. That includes playoffs.

Preview
Red Wings
(37-19-11, 85 pts)

Penguins
(39-19-10, 88 pts)

National television, I'm going to be able to watch most of the first period And most of the third period to the end.

Got some business to do to the end of the first through the second at the beginning of the third.

And wings up early 1 to 0.

Come back from the gym to a four goal Red Wing lead.

Good, though I'll probably do something else and just check in every so often throughout the third period to see what's going on.

Me too. Came from the store we were up 4-0..

Nice to see a score like this verses a playoff team...

Final score feels good, the overall play doesn't. Mrazek stole this game and the team was generally outplayed on the ice. The team is definitely better this year than last, but I struggle to say they will really be able to take games against good teams (generally 2nd round+) in the playoffs.

Shots on goal can be a really deceptive stat sometime. Wings carried a lot of play in the Pittsburgh end.

I don't mean to imply the wings played terribly. But I think the final score is far more deceptive than the shot differential. 43 shots against is a huge number. That would be a huge number for an overtime game. The wings carried play enough to get their chances, but it definitely looked like Pit was holding the puck more than the wings.

SOG can be a real deceptive statistic. I prefer scoring chances (can't find it anywhere online, maybe you can for this game). If a player dumps the puck into the zone and it finds the way to the goalie and he has to paddle it away, it's still an SOG. I've seen games where another team had way more SOG and they were being dominated. Similar to yards in the NFL. QB gets credit for yards, but that could be a 2 yard screen someone broke for 50.
