I don't think that is a good sign, this close to the draft.

By now the scouting reports are done, the pro-days are over, as is the Combine, and they have every ounce of data that the team would need to make picks.

And while he may be the director, it's not like he was doing the scouting... he was managing a team of scouts.

I don't think this changes anything this close to the draft. In fact, now that their job is pretty well done for the year, now is the right time to make a move.
