Detroit Lions - Team Notes

Ameer Abdullah seeking medical opinion, could return in 2016.
According to one report, Abdullah may return to the field this season.
PrideOfDetroit

RB Ameer Abdullah (IR, foot) will see Dr. Robert Anderson on Tues to see if he’ll start practicing. Active in 3 weeks is realistic.
A little more on Ameer: Visit to Dr Anderson is Tuesday, should have an updated timetable then. Lions can use that to facilitate IR decision.
Still, this story has more legs and, if true, would be a huge boost for the Lions.
Granted, Abdullah only played in 1.5 games—and that full game was against a horrible Colts defense—but he provided the Lions running game with a spark that hasn’t been seen since his injury. His 5.6 yards per carry this season is a full yard and a half more than any rusher on the team not named Matthew Stafford.
If the Lions could get him back down the tough stretch of their schedule, it would be a huge boost to their playoff chances.

Tight ends with the least favorable matchups in fantasy football in Week 11 (0-100 scale, with 100 being most favorable): Kyle Rudolph (0), Jason Witten (0), Cameron Brate (15), Zach Ertz (35), Eric Ebron (35).

Khyri Thornton getting some No. 1 reps in place of Tyrunn Walker at DT. Walker is inactive and Thornton has been progressing well over the last few weeks.
Thornton's had an interesting career. Drafted in the third round by Green Bay in 2014 and waived in 2015. New England signed him twice last season before cutting him for good in October.
Detroit then claimed him on waivers in one of the final moves made by former Lions GM Martin Mayhew.

Matthew Stafford, Golden Tate and Glover Quin among Lions players to run out of the tunnel with American flags today.

Interesting first defensive drive for the Lions. After mixing up personnel almost every game early, the Lions ran a three-safety nickel package on every down, using a combination of Glover Quin, Rafael Bush, Tavon Wilson and Miles Killebrew. A more consistent look from Detroit, with Killebrew mostly in on third downs for Wilson.
