How to watch the Detroit Lions vs. Minnesota Vikings game.

The Lions have promoted QB Jake Rudock from the practice squad.
I'm not sure why many people have been eager to write off Rudock, but I was impressed by his preseason and it looks like he's bulked up.

Lions activate Jake Rudock from the practice squad.
The Lions made a small, but surprising move on Wednesday.

The obvious question is why? Rudock is almost certainly going to be inactive on game day, so why bother wasting a roster spot on someone who isn’t going to play? As Kyle Meinke notes, it could be a move to protect Rudock from getting poached by another team. Teams are free to sign any player off of another team’s practice squad, provided that they sign them to their active 53-man roster.
A team like the Chicago Bears could be searching for some young quarterback talent now that it appears Jay Cutler’s season, and perhaps career, is over in Chicago. By signing Rudock to the active roster, he is untouchable by any other team. Rudock was drafted in the sixth round last April.
Dave Birkett confirms it was the Bears that tried to sign Rudock: The Chicago Bears are the team that tried to sign Jake Rudock. Lions didn't want to lose him, obviously.

Vikings likely to be without WR Stefon Diggs vs. Lions.

VIKINGS-LIONS COULD BE CLOSE AGAIN.
Could we be in for more overtime theatrics? ESPN's FPI likes the Vikings in this rematch for first place in the NFC North, but only by a slight margin.

PLAYOFF ODDS SWING HEAVILY AT FORD FIELD.
Thanksgiving Day might as well mean the season for these two NFC North foes. By the metrics of ESPN's FPI, a loss on Thursday by either team greatly depreciates its chances of reaching the postseason.

November 24, 1938, Chuck Hanneman catches a pass from Vern Huffman in the fourth quarter to give Detroit a 14-7 victory over the Bears in the first Thanksgiving Day game played at Briggs Stadium.

November 24, 2002, in a decision that angers Lion fans, head coach Marty Mornhinweg chooses to kick the ball to the Bears despite winning the coin toss to start overtime. The Bears promptly march down the field, kick a field goal, and defeat the Lions, 20-17.
Mornhinweg explains that he preferred to have the wind in his favor, but the boneheaded decision is indicative of his unsuccessful stretch as coach of the team. He?s fired at the conclusion of the 2002 season, having lost his final eight games.
