Nevin Lawson and Johnson Bademosi are expected to start at cornerback against the Cowboys, with Asa Jackson and safety Don Carey in line for nickel cornerback duties.
Carter likely will play outside cornerback if he sees the field for defensive snaps.

Theo Riddick, Travis Swanson and Darius Slay all miss another open portion of practice for the Lions. None of the three have practiced at all this week.

Lions C Travis Swanson (concussion) isn't expected to play in Week 16.
Swanson has missed the last two games in the concussion protocol. Graham Glasgow will continue to start in his place.

Lions signed WR Rashad Ross to the practice squad.

The 2008 Lions remain the only team in NFL history to go 0-16 in a season after Cleveland's 20-17 win over San Diego Shits on Saturday.
The Lions have two members of this season's roster from that team -- backup QB Dan Orlovsky and snapper Don Muhlbach. "It was just the worst thing I've ever had to go through, football-wise," Muhlbach told me in 2015. "I wouldn't wish that on anybody."
Now the Browns don't have to join the Lions in that club.
