Lions promote receiver Jace Billingsley for season finale.

No corresponding move has been announced. But, Roberts is dealing with a shoulder injury that he sustained last week against Dallas. He missed a couple days of practice this week, and was in a red no-contact jersey Friday.

If he's limited or unable to go, Bilingsley offers some depth both as a receiver and return man. (TJ Jones is also currently on the roster, and could fill those jobs too.)

Billingsley could very well step in for Roberts as the team’s kick and punt returner. He has yet to play in a regular season game. During the preseason, the undrafted rookie undertook both returner roles.
His best performances include a 40-yard kick return against the Ravens and a 23-yard punt return against the Steelers. In Detroit’s preseason finale against the Bills, Billingsley was the exclusive punt and kick returner.

Lions sign WR Jace Billingsley to active roster and place RB Theo Riddick on Reserve/Injured.

In addition, Detroit signed TE Kennard Backman to the practice squad.
Backman comes to Detroit after most recently spending time as a member of the New England Patriots practice squad. A sixth-round draft selection (213th overall) by Green Bay in the 2015 NFL Draft out of UAB, Backman appeared in seven games for the Packers last season.

Detroit Lions place Theo Riddick on injured reserve; downgrade Riley Reiff to questionable.
The Detroit Lions second-string running back’s season is over.

If Riley Reiff can’t go, the Lions would likely rely on Corey Robinson to replace him. Against a solid Packers pass rush, that is less than ideal.

The Lions have placed RB Theo Riddick on injured reserve and signed WR Jace Billingsley from the team's practice squad. Billingsley is a slot receiver who can get into some of the same creases in a defense Riddick is able to. But he is a receiver, not a running back.

Wrist injury is likely more serious than a sprain. Concern for ligament tear. If so, possible need for surgery.
