Detroit Red Wings Retired Numbers

Previous GM was a bit frosty on #91, though not sure if GMs are part of the discussion when retiring a number, and I don't think Yzerman and him got along really well either. Though Yzerman always says he was the most talented player he ever saw.

Then there's the holdout he had and the fact he left even when Detroit offered more money.

I too hated Fedorov when he left, but time heals most wounds especially when he was such a huge catalyst for their success for a decade. I think in a decade OKC Thunder fans will feel the same way for Kevin Durant as most Wings fans do now for Fedorov (although Durant is a petulant child on social media and with fans).

Yeah it sucked there was a issue with Wings and Federov. Still it would be nice if they could be resolved. Like has been mentioned in the book ‘ The Russian Five’ Steve said Federov was the most talented young player he had seen.

Fyodorov leaving may have been a blessing in disguise.

By 08 Fyodorov was already regressing due to age and with a 'reduced' cap of 6 million, which was more than 10% of the cap at that time, it would have greatly changed lineup Detroit had going for that cup run.

It would have also greatly changed the makeup of the team in the first years following the introduction of the cap.
