Detroit Tigers Minor League Notes

Tigers' Beau Burrows: Impressing in Single-A.
Burrows has impressed so far at Low-A West Michigan, delivering a 2.70 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in seven starts this season.

Burrows strikes out his share of batters, walks almost no one and gives up fewer than a hit per inning. He's doing just fine at age 19.

Tigers' Grayson Greiner: Ripping laces out of ball.
Greiner is batting .353 in his last 10 games and .301 on the year for Low-A West Michigan.

The big (6-foot-6, 220 pounds) right-handed bat could shoot his way back into a top prospect slot for the Tigers if he keeps this up. But beware his size -- men that big rarely stay behind the dish, so Greiner's bat will need to play well enough for him to move onto the diamond.

Tigers' Joe Jimenez: Outstanding start to season may earn promotion to Double-A.
Jimenez will likely be promoted to Double-A soon given his strong performance for High-A Lakeland. He still hasn't allowed a run in 15 games and 15.1 innings.

The 21-year-old is one of the Tigers' best prospects, and it shows. Jimenez's line so far is flat-out dominant (15.1 innings, five hits, four walks and 23 strikeouts).

Tigers' Bruce Rondon: Control still eludes him.
Rondon's control continues to elude him at Triple-A Toldeo.

He delivered three hits, two runs, three walks and three strikeouts in just two innings Thursday. Rondon's season isn't much better: 10 games, 10.2 innings, 12 hits, 10 walks and 14 strikeouts. He won't be back in Detroit any time soon.

Tigers' Matt Boyd: Sharpening game in Triple-A.
Boyd struck out a season-high nine batters and allowed two runs on six hits over six innings on Friday at Lehigh Valley.

He's 1-3 on the season with a 2.06 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in eight starts at Triple-A Toldeo. Boyd has a four-pitch repertoire and will likely pitch in the Tiger's rotation in 2017, if not before.
