Tigers keep Lobstein in system, trade Casali to Rays.
from JasonBeck'sTigersblog

Tigers announce they've struck a deal with Rays to keep Rule 5 acquisition Kyle Lobstein, trading C Curt Casali. Outright Lobstein to Erie AA.

@TigersProspects in your opinion top catcher in the system? or 2nd 3rd?

@KalineCountry 2nd behind McCann. But could have vaulted to 1st with a good 2013.

Behind McCann, probably like tossing a coin between him and Holaday. I bet the idiot Nats asked for someone like Castro or Suarez for Kobernus. I don't mind losing Casali for Lobstein. We needed more depth in Toledo at starting pitching. Lets try to make that the trade of a catcher though. What was once an area of depth is thinning a little. Brantly is probably going to end up the best piece the Marlins picked up in that trade last year. He's their starter and if he ends up better than Realmuto may be their catcher for a long time

Podcast: On this episode of the Replacement Level Podcast Baseball America?s Ben Badler joined me to discuss the possibility of an international draft and what that would mean for Major League Baseball.
Ben discussed the primary motivation of MLB for pushing for an international draft (money), and detailed the disadvantages it could present to teenage prospects in the Dominican Republic and Venezuela. Ben and I also talked about the WBC and he offered some suggestions on how to improve the tournament.
